Post season workout encouragement thread! 2022 EDITION!!!!!

This one here is doing poorly on working out. I can't seem to work it into my day.
Good on you folks sticking with it!
I feel like that’s honestly the hardest part is finding the time. I bet more people would work out if they had the time. That’s why I just try to get up really early and knock it out before I go into work. Doesn’t always work but I feel like I can pretty consistently get up and do my workout before my wife and kid get up.

If you want to watch a video of my slow a** lumbering down the road I can make one lol. Or watch me attempt to jump rope for my insanity workouts. Ok that might be highly entertaining from a comedic standpoint haha.

I need to step up my cardio game to help with riding bikes, I need more wind.....I mostly just lift weights and hike/walk long distances.

Got a good trail run in this morning at a pretty easy pace. Nice to get in the woods and enjoy the view.
I also got to try out my new Eberlestock H7 Dagger pack. It worked really well with very little movement and no chafing for almost a 2 hour run. Very pleased with it.

As it gets hotter make sure y’all are getting some water on those long runs! Hope y’all are keeping the grind going

Yeah I did 6 miles this morning and it was still pretty warm. Maybe in the mid 60’s. Next weekend I bump up to 8 miles for my Saturday long run “recovery” run. It’s gonna get crazy and I’m slightly terrified but I’m not going to give up. This is easily the best shape I’ve been in since high school. I’m way slower but in terms of cardio I feel great.

Heck yea man. That’s a great feeling. I’m glad you’ve been sticking with it and can feel a difference

I honestly can’t believe that I made it this far. I usually fizzle out on stuff like this but I think having a big goal to shoot for has helped and oddly enough, having the forum in my corner has been a nice driving force to keep at it. I’ve made it this far so I don’t have the option of flaking out.

Hey guys. Did a 5k, 28:10 no walking this morning. Feeling great

I plan to keep improving and maybe one day do a half like you guys!

Awesome! That’s a good accomplishment. The “feeling great” part is the best part of it all

Hope everyone has found time to workout this weekend. If you’re looking to break up the monotony of the distance running then I’d suggest the Murph workout. I did mine yesterday morning. It’s always tough but a good workout to spice things up.

All right, I'll get on board. I'd been holding off on committed training this spring for fear of repeating leg injuries before going on a road trip to the southwest and doing a lot of hiking. But surprisingly I kept up with my wife's pace and came back in one piece. So now it's time to buckle down. Did a 1.7 mi jog tonight, probably the first in nearly a year. Startin' slow and small.

It always amazed me how I could go from sitting on the couch drinking beer every night to still being able to run at least a mile without stops. It wasn’t easy and I was out of breath but I could still do it. Makes it a nice starting point and sometimes you surprise yourself.

Update on my running journey. Had a setback with a toe injury so I've had to scale back on the running a bit. Cost me a lot of big mile days but I'm still pushing through the pain. The furthest I've yet to run is 8. I did 5 the other day and have been keeping up with my cross training when I can. The high temp days were absolutely brutal to run in, I couldn't even make it 4 miles on the 100% humidity days even in lower morning temps. Between the heat and the toe, I had to call it quits on a few long runs. After my 5 miler two nights ago, I felt way better and the temps aren't as blazing hot. I'm still shooting for a July 3rd half marathon but depending on how I'm feeling I might have to push it back. That remains to be seen though, I think I'll be ok. I'm excited to start throwing some trail cameras out on some of the properties I'm hunting this fall. Hopefully I won't get carried away by ticks! Hope everyone is still doing well with their offseason training. Drink lots of water throughout the day!

I have been slacking on my running for a week. When I say running, I mean 2 min runs then walk till I catch my breath then repeat kinda runs. I'm bad but it's a start. On a different note, I'm back to benching 315 again, feels good.

All this talk about running makes my arthritic knees hurt. However, since this is a workout thread and especially if you have a bad back or shoulders, give kayaking a try. I try and paddle a few times a week and it strengthens my back and shoulder muscles and accomplishes cardio.
