If you don’t know Michael P Murphy, was a Navy seal that was awarded a medal of honor , you could also check out his story in the movie the lone survivor. I’m going to be a couple weeks shy of 60 when I do the challenge. This is my first time putting it out there, but now I guess I Gotta do it.

Who else is in?

I did another 3 miles on the treadmill tonight- wish I could be out on the road but the kids that can't be home alone at this age so, treadmill it is for some of my training days. I'll do the "race" on the roads, while I've been doing a 1% incline to equal out effort, I still dont trust that the treadmill isn't easier than running outside. Better than nothing though!

Hows it going for you guys, other than contributing to the super bowl chicken wing shortage?
Way to go! Gotta get the work in whatever way you can. Glad you got it done.
I’m tapering off my mileage/intensity for the rest of the week cause I’ve got my race this weekend. Probably going to be single digit temps at start time!

I have been doing tough mudder and Sparton races. This year I’m doing the Murph challenge.
1 mile run to start
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 air squats
1 mile run to finish
You can do it with or with out a 20 pound vest. I’m preparing to do it with the vest by loosing 25 pounds body weight, keto is working. The Murph challenge is on memorial day weekend, you could do it anywhere, virtual or different organizations around your state might have scheduled. Check it out on Instagram. Keep hammering

Love the Murph!one of my goals for 2021 is to work back into doing it once a week. One of the best workouts there is!

Good lord that sounds like a grind

Missed thursday but put another 4 miles in yesterday night and plan to do another 3-4 tonight. I want to ramp up faster because my brain still thinks I can jump back into things right away, but got to build back that base... @KYHunter hope your race went well(if it was this AM)/goes well (if it's tomorrow)! Let us know how things went, and hopefully the rest of you guys out there are sticking with it, posting here is certainly keeping me more motivated than i've been in the past on my own.

Thanks for asking! I ended up getting 2nd in the race. I ran 14 miles in 2 hours(timed race, not distance). We had a bad ice storm here this week so the trail was iced over bad and slow going. I only fell once thankfully and was overall pleased with how it went considering the weather and trail conditions.

@thedutchtouch you’re exactly right man, keep building that base! You’re joints and muscles will thank you later on! Keep putting in the work man. The grind is worth it

I have been a bad boy but started back up this week. I really should stick with it,the first week is always the hardest. I.am getting a case of cabin fever,i am tired of winter right now. But its far from over,so i had better buckle up.
My wife's work schedule has been changing and that affects my workout time in the a.m
as well. I will get it figured out.
Good job getting after it fellas.

Thanks for checking in @SaddleUpPartner! , I meant to post a similar reply yesterday but forgot. I'm settling into somewhat of a routine which feels nice, ran Mon/Tues/Thurs/Sat last week, my first 5 miler in many years last night. All on the treadmill still (and I still don't trust that incline @1 makes it similar effort to running on the road theory) but feeling good, just a few hundred more miles and I'll feel like I have the base built back up somewhat...

@Bowmanmike you can do it! I completely identify with the work/life messing up the schedule, we just gotta power through as best we can for a week or 3 then the routine starts to settle in. I've been doing some of my runs pretty late at night since I am not a morning person but need to figure out how to shift to AM since thats when most races take place...

I am a morning person but dont really enjoy working out first thing. But i find if i dont something gets in the way later on. Yesterday i was wrung out from a 30 min workout. It will be a few weeks before i get my base fitness level up to a decent spot.
I have to do it though, the alternative is getting fat. I handled my physical job much better this summer as i started out in good shape. I want to repeat that and keep going. I am gonna be 50 next year and i want to be able to do all the things i love to do.

No judgment here, life happens man. We’re just here to root each other on for whatever workout you so choose.

I’m two weeks from finishing my Insanity workout, then I start “The Asylum”. I’ve been feeling awesome, much more energy at work and at home. I wake up around 5:30 and do my workout before work. I honestly never used to work out in the morning but my wife changed my mind on that. Just get up and blast it out of the park and then you’re DONE. Yeah I’m a little sore sometimes for work but you get stronger and it goes away eventually. Can’t wait for these temps to come down here so I can start running outside. Training for the half marathon is gonna be tricky when I build up into the higher miles, that’s a big chunk of time to be gone from home.
