Well it’s been a week since my knee surgery. What I thought was just going to be arthroscopic ACL repair surgery turned into ACL replacement surgery. This was from a cadaver so at least it’s natural. I started PT today and it was painful yet felt good. Weird. I’ve used this PT group before and I got fussed at by the lady there when she thought I was planning on going hunting soon. She looked me straight in the eyes and stated “your hunting season is done! Don’t even think about it.” I let her know that I’m not planning on going till mid September. She let me know that I’ll be more than capable of hunting then and be stronger. Just need to sell my Quietkat Ambush bike now.

Prayers or good thoughts and encouragement is appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Been there and done that. Take your time rehabbing to make it strong. You'll be glad you did. Godspeed.

Wishing you well in your recovery. Organ and tissue donation was where I started my career, I'd encourage you to write to your donor's family if you're able to, many highly appreciate knowing that the gifts their loved ones have given are saving and improving so many lives.

Looks good brother! Here's to you and praying for your quick and effective recovery!! I had arthroscopic torn meniscus surgery five years ago so I know... somewhat what you're going through. Obviously, a torn ACL is much more complicated and painful but nonetheless, we are blessed in the country with still great health care and health care professionals. God bless them all and keep them safe!!

Best wishes on recovery! This is not the time to be tough and push the envelope, follow the therapists instructions and heal well.

make sure to do the pt. And when your ready to get a full lock leg extension while walking, but that’s down the road. I tripled crowned my right knee in 2011 snowboarding in Jackson hole on Saint pattys day. What a mess. There must’ve been 20 of us with leg immobilizers! Anyways. Supposed to be getting my meniscus artho on Tuesday (same knee)pending this Covid test. You’ll be fine brother.
Ps.
dont unstrap the leg immobilizer, I did (to sleep)and my leg twitched and bent that sucker. I screamed in agony...

Nope. I know better than to do that. Sleeping with it off. I move way to much.

Stick to the pt and rehab regiment and hit the gym when you're allowed to. I had the patellar tendon graft acl reconstruction 11 years ago in June. I was out in the woods that October using a LW hand climber. There was a little discomfort climbing, but not bad. A lot of things hurt then, so it's not like hunting was any worse. It actually felt great being able to get out and do something again. I also skied black diamond runs at Vail that new year's, which was only 6 months after surgery.

Best line my pt guy gave me the first day is "there's a difference between pain and hurting it." Man, there was a lot of pain.

It's weird that they opened your knee up like that to use the cadaver graft. I thought they only cut you like that when they harvested the patellar tendon.

I tore my ACL while stepping down off tree steps. Painful walk out. Do your rehab even when it hurts, things will get better.

Dear Heavenly Father
Please grant Paul strength, courage, and pain relief. Help him get through his therapy so he can regain full use of his knee. We thank you and praise you for the generous person who, before leaving this earthly life, was willing to share from his body, what he no longer needed. Please give Paul's therapists wisdom as they guide his recovery. Pray that his co-workers and family would come along side him to accomplish some of the things that he temporarily can't do. Grant him patience and persistence. We thank you and praise you for good medical care and the skills you have given these care givers.
In the precious and saving Name of Your Son Jesus we Pray
Amen

Thank you...that means a lot to me. And I needed the encouragement.

Been there and sone it three times now. Two on the left and one on the right. Lots of other goodies repaired in there while replacing my acl.

Do the rehab. You’ll smoke the first couple to three weeks. It takes dedication to get that last 10% back. Do it. Good luck and God Bless.

I agree with @sureshot ,odd that you got the long scar. I had my Acl re-done with my own hamstring tissue and my meniscus sown up and i had three little holes. Recovery took a good while because of the meniscus repair, with just the ACL you should heal faster. Do the exercises and good luck!

Supposedly I had no lateral support..or something along those lines. I don't know why the cut was so long...I have like six holes and one long cut. It's getting better though.

That's what counts, who cares about a scar on the knee..Best of luck with the recovery.
