Predator Platform Alternate Attachment Methods?

Theres got to be other methods to attach this platform other than the clunky metal buckle you get with it.

Im sure guys are using a rope mod, daisy chain, etc with success?

I considered shaving the button right off and cutting small angled slits into the lip of upright to wrap the rope around like the new tethrd sticks use.

I've used the cam strap and the EWO webbing daisy chains. Went with the cam strap this year even though I have daisy chains because after a year of strictly daisy chains I was sick of fiddling with them.

I believe some people like the truckers hitch with Amsteel but I'm just a simple man and I'll just carry the extra weight of the cam buckle.

I use 1/8 amsteel daisy chain on my predator. I don’t enjoy fiddling with buckles. I rarely use the predator since getting the EWO one stick with the UP platform. I really like the cam cleat.

I was thinking this may be the easiest method as well. Ill make one up and see how i like it.

1/8 daisy with truckers hitch. Tight as can be, fast, QUIET, and light. My predator with daisy chain is 3.01 lbs.

1/8 daisy chain with a truckers hitch has worked perfectly fine. I’ve never even used the strap it came with.

Is this how you all do it?

This isn’t a different attachment method, as it still uses the cam buckle, but it is a different way to attach the predator that gets it a LOT tighter to the tree…..(could also be used with daisy chains, etc).

Turn / cock the main post at 45-60 degrees to vertical from how you would normally attach it to the tree, apply and tighten the cam strap over the versa button, turn/cock the main post back to the vertical position, cam lock the platform down into the tree.

Very tight connection. Works much better with side pressure versus the usual cam locking method.

i do a version of this with 1/8" amsteel daisy chain with 3" loops

if you tuck the tag end behind the other pieces of amsteel at the button, then it locks everything when you cam down, i then do some finishing wraps

it makes the predator quieter because the amsteel does not stretch and allow the teeth to move on the tree

caution though, if it is too tight, do not force it but rather loosen the trucker's hitch a bit, it will still get super tight, after a few times you figure out a system

you have to get to the button, so i do all this with the predator slightly open, then i make everything tight but not as tight as possible, then i cam down

i make a few changes, but yes this is the starting point

when i make the first wrap around the button, i go behind the amsteel loop that stays attached to the button, i then do the trucker's hitch, and when i bring it back to the button, i go behind all the ropes already there with a full wrap

after camming, this locks everything

i then do some finishing wraps and have a loop of elastic paracord on the last loop to stow the end of the chain

the end loop that always stays on the button is secured with a ranger band so that it can't come off and this also provides extra friction on the ropes beneath it
