Predator Platform broke on me last night

After reading through this thread I realized something. Hate is exactly like paint, any idiot can spread it.
Well said! And I think most of us agree that this community was and should still be hate free. It’s great that we aren’t censoring anyone’s opinions and thoughts, but each of us has a responsibility for our own mouths and attitudes, just like we have a responsibility towards our own safety. We can all agree or disagree, that’s called freedom, but human nature and imperfection can cause us to harm others with our thoughts, speech and opinions. It becomes easier behind a keyboard. I’m not saying that anyone here on this thread has done that. It is a serious subject, with a lot of emotion. I just ask that we think before we type. I know there are older veterans to the site on here that have seen the group grow and refer to the “old days, and I for one really value their opinions and ideas, that’s why I’m here! I know that there are a lot of new guys here too, with good ideas and want to learn. I’m not writing this a a “Can’t we all get along” post, But...I want everyone to sit back and think, just for a minute about how special this site is. What separates it from main stream social media is the same HEART, that separates saddle hunting from the rest of the hunting world. Ok guys I’m done venting! It’s Friday, let’s go kill deer, and be safe doing it!!!!!!

Time to bow out of this thread.
Final comment...
I like my preds. Fantastic products that I love...all 3, so far,(the two gen 1s and the gen 2), have not screwed me or my hunt.
I will keep the breakage issue in mind and will continue to take safety precautions.
I do wish Tethrd was a little more "on top" of this, but I don't run a business.
Somewhere in this thread, it was mentioned that there will be a trade-in/buy back type program in 2020. Well, "2020" is a long time...will it be January 2020 or next December 2020?
I completely understand that products go thru the rigors of user abuse and that crap happens with all 1st generation products in any product line. I believe they have addressed the gen 1 issues with the improvements in the gen 2s. I have 100% confidence in my gen 2.
I just wish they would address the concerns of us gen 1 users and let the customer decide what they want in order to remain satisfied.
But, hey, it's their business. They can continue to run it the way they have. I'm not sure that they are keeping their customers as top priority.
All that being said, I'm about to be on vacation until December...Entire November rut glory! I will be spending a lot of time on my Predators, both gen 1 and 2.
Good luck guys.
Be safe, be successful and satisfied with what the hunt brings your way.
Same to you and good luck hang safe.

Alright now. Whew. I can hear the whole forum breathing again. Thanks to Red and the Moderators for letting the members here have their say, even though it got passionate at times. I'm a FNG here. This place is like a family to me. I have been active here for about a year. I'm old but I'm not too old. I'm smart but I'm not too smart. I know stuff but I don't know everything. I know one thing for sure. This is a special place, for people with a special outlook on the thing we all love...... Hunting. We are saddle hunters. We are a saddle hunting family. We have a history, as do all families. I also know that their are no perfect families. I think we are true to the founders and the innovators of the past. Except now we are not starting from scratch, although some still DIY from the beginning( with the ideas that were pioneered in the past). I feel there is still that innovative spirit here. The new folks like myself are lucky to have you " old timers". We can learn from each other in an atmosphere of respect. This place has grown. Just this morning as I refreshed "what's new" we had 13 Welcome posts. Red posted not to long ago the number of members, it was crazy, and it was fast, I was among the new growth. I am happy to be a member here. Lets keep it unique. Let us voice our opinions respectfully, lets continue to help each other find a better, safer way to do what it is we do.Lets continue to share our experience, and our successes. That's all I got. Oh wait one more thing. To all the FNGs this isn't Archery Talk. This is Saddlehunter.com. Remember that!

What I understand is after the season they will take back the Gen 1 that way at least you have a platform to use this season and they have time to get the Gen 2 out before next season.

A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.

So, I avoided commenting on this thread for the most part, but, as an engineer that designs safety products, that's not how it works. If there's a problem that affects safety that can be reasonably explained as a design or manufacturing defect (as opposed to general wear and tear), you recall it.

I'm 99% certain it's a Fight Club quote.

The conscientious engineer pushes to, at least. Whether they make the call isn't always as clear.

Well here is a new one. Can’t say I have seen this before. When setting my platform by hand yesterday I heard a pop and this is what I saw. Gen 2 platform used at least 30 times with no issues.

Oh, JFC.
Here we go.
Thank you for sharing. I’ll be watching, or just switch to my Lone Wolf batwing like I have been considering.
