Predator pull away

That original strap is a nuisance. I was stubborn thinking I would wear it in and just kept fighting it all season. Wish I would have switched to a lone wolf strap right away.

Could someone please define "toe hooking the platform" for me? Do you mean transferring all weight off the platform by sitting into your saddle, then using your foot/toes to un-cam the platform and reset it by tightening the strap, pushing down on the post, and cam it over again? Is that what "toe hooking" means?

Set your platform. Make sure you're tethered to the tree. Then stand on the post, and reach down with your toe to fold the platform up again. This will result in the post you're standing on sliding down a little - then step back down on the platform folding it open again. This cams the even-tighter strap connection. It also puts a lot of stress on the platform which can cause gen 1 platforms to crack. Contact Tethrd if this happens -it's why there's a gen2.

Safer to try it in the offseason in case you have to wait on shipping to get it replaced.

Hesitant to put all my weight on the post to cam it over. I'm afraid it will break my Gen 1 platform

Yeah, wouldn’t recommend doing it with a Gen1, unless you really want to break it lol. Gen2 is no issue you won’t break that one. I would try another strap first and see what that does for you.

I bought one from DanO and the only thing is the hole in the bracket is 5/16 and the hole in the post is 1/4 . You can drill the hole bigger or use the bolt that can with the platform but it's a little loose.

One thing not mentioned yet is make sure the strap is as horizontal on the tree as possible as you go thru the camming process. If the strap angles upward, it just doesn't hold the top of the stand as tight to the tree.

Something else I do is I do a few partial cams as I continue to pull the strap tight. Doing that stretches the strap a little and ensures its as tight as it can possibly be before you do the final cam over.
Don't just tug the strap once and then cam over once.
Work it a few times...partial camming WHILE continuously pulling the strap tight.

Tried it all. Toe hook, Nose hook, Crap I'd even try a "Hooker" if I thought that would help. Tripple belt tightening. The platform always eventually pulls away from the tree. I'm a big guy but not a monsta.... 6ft 200..... however when my platform is folded down I keep it slightly above level as my weight brings it down to level. I also stand on my toes on the outer edge of the platform a lot not that that should matter. Its almost like the teeth don't extend out far enough to bite the tree.
The strap should be level when you cinch it down as tight as possible by hand, and the platform should be folded up at this time. Then push it down as far as you can before opening the platform. The dogs on the back of the platform should grab and bite and pull the whole platform down as you bottom out the platform. I have never seen this not work. I would be very surprised if you can't get this to work for you. Good luck.

Ok boys I tried the advice and it seems to be working. When I put my sticks up I would angle the straps high so the sticks wouldn't slide down so far as if I put them level. I was doing the same with the platform. As soon as I put the strap level the teeth bit in way better.... Thanks all......

I modified mine with a lone wolf batwing and run Tethrd's versa strap. No issues.

I do slightly angle (side to side) the platform to ensure I'm getting it as tight as possible, the angle it back (vertical to tree) and cam it down. I climb on, toe hook and it's solid as can be.
