For you looking to save. I like my wild edge steps better, but I use this with a plywood platform.

I’ve had mine 3 seasons with no problems and use the plywood platform insert every climb
 
I've read some reviews where folks cursed the straps/buckles and others where folks thought they were just fine. For weight, I wouldn't mind buying some of these and switching them to some kind of Amsteel attachment, but I can't picture how you'd connect the two pieces of rope--i would assume the attachments on either side of the step would need to be permanently spliced, so you'd have to have a way to connect the two ends?

Just getting back into saddles and when I got out, this site and the myriad of Amsteel rigging options didn't exist so I'm not well versed.

I pulled the buckles off and tie the WE knot with the strap. Works great, lighter and quieter

You go buckleless on the step that your platform goes in also?

Can't remember if I ever asked you that before. Sorry if it is a repeat.

No sir, that is my only buckle. Need the buckle to keep the cam over tight enough
 
Wondering how they hold up under weight, the website shows a 225 pound weight limit? Did not know if any of you were over that and could speak it that? Thanks

I was 230 when I first started with them, so my climbing weight was about 250.
 
Am I missing something? These cheap knock offs are $17, come with a crap buckle, and most reviews mentioned bending.
The real deal is owned and operated by a veteran, and are $20 for one, or $17 if you buy 5, $16 if you buy 8.
I love cheap gear that works well, I hunt out of a sit drag, but not sure what the allure is of these steps?

My buckles are the same as the on Hawk straps, and work fine. I’ve heard of “the real deal” bending also. My Primals haven’t bent. I’m not following your math there either, I got 8 steps for less than $50.

Amazon has them at $22 for 4. That's $5.50 per step and a good bit cheaper than Wild Edge. Things are tight for a lot of people. I can't knock it. I've seen quite a few people talking about Stepps bending too. I have some of the Primal Steps and they do their job fine.

Ah my mistake, $21 for a 4 pack.
That’s quite a bit cheaper, good to know.
I’ll still do what I can’t to support the little guys, especially a vet run company.
 
I get it. I bought a linemans and tether from wild edge to support small business (and paid $20 shipping). Could've had 4 more steps for that. Lol.

I paid $42 to my door, 3 years ago. No issues with them. I bought them as a reasonable cost, climbing method and they are still as good as when new! They will bend if not properly cammed but so will the WE steps. Not sure where you come up with the buckle being crap? If it can hold tight to the tree when a plywood insert is cammed over in it, that certainly doesn’t constitute crap.

I guess I don’t see your point
