Prusik knot as a backup for RM1

I don’t get why you would this… if ur using a Prussic anyway…. Just get rid of the ropeman

To answer your question, I use mine as a progress capture to eliminate slack while climbing. The prusik acts as a non mechanical backup and I use it as a brake when rappelling.

@bfriendly I see three possible problems in the above picture, first the rope on rope of the hitch and bottom bridge, second the abrupt ending of the buries on the top bridge, and Newports while trying to be stealthy?

I also use a hitch below my ATC when rappelling. With it below, it’s easy to tend on the way down because it’s basically in the same place as a typical brake hand. I just let go and I’m hands free to get platform and stick.
My transfer is connecting ATC To short bridge below mechanical and connecting that friction hitch to bridge loop. Once I’m hanging on it, I’m double checking everything that is going on, making sure all is good, then I remove my ropeman.
All that said, I went back to my separate tether since I prefer climbing with it.

im assuming you remove the ropeman prior to rappel and attach prusik to lineman loop? I tend my friction hitch with my ATC and while it works it obviously doesnt adjust as well as the ropeman so this caught my attention...

Please educate me, it’s why I post pics! But you no likey the TRC on resctech? Or running my secondary bridge through the hitch……it’s just redundant and should keep me off the ground no?
Who says I’m trying to be stealthy? I’m just having fun =0)~

I think I saw a review and also noticed they(Hawk) didn’t taper the ends of the bury . I didn’t do too swift of a job making the secondary one either and it keeps poking out, even when I rebury it.

Correct. When I'm ready to come down, I stand up straight, throw lineman rope around, connect, tighten, and lean back. Then I slack my tether connection to remove RM1, connect prusik to lineman loop, and add ATC to main line and bridge.

I prefer this approach though I use a Michocoan hitch tied with an eye to eye. I’ve owned a rope but sold it. I’d rather not have another thing up the clanging around…
I tried it, went back to mechanical as I adjust a bunch. I find the mechanical to be a little more precise.

I don’t use a lineman’s belt. I do have a shorter second bridge I attach my ATC to rappel line first with prussik below. As I stand up, I’m tightening ATC/prussik brake to load the lower bridge. After making sure it’s right, I disconnect and remove tether from tree.
