public land cameras

I run exclusively Browning Dark Ops, mounted with the the screw in mount. Place them high up, and out of normal foot traffic areas. I haven’t had a single camera messed with, and I have only had 1 single camera in 5 years with a human on it period.
All of this on heavily pressured public.

Up and out of the way is the name of the game.

I run 14 cameras over 2 states, and about 3 hours of driving... almost all of my cameras are what people call trash, but they a good enough. I run tasco 8mp (4), tasco 10mp(7), stealth cam 16mp (2) wild game 12mp (1). To date the most I've paid for any one camera is 38$. I got the two stealthcam at Walmart long after seasons end they both had red stickers and boom, same happened with the wild game cam, got it for 25$ at a Dunhams long after seasons close.... I dont need insane detail on pics I need dates, times, movement directions, frequency, and info like that. Cheap cameras wont hit as hard if they are stolen, so I wont be buying any expensive cameras ever, I almost exclusively hang them on public land...

Another vote for the Tascos from Walmart or other cheapos. I run a half dozen Tascos on heavy used public land trails. Trigger speed kind of sucks so you have to set them up on a well used trail and at an angle so they'll be tripping the sensor for awhile to get good photos and not deer butts. I'm sure I've lost photos of deer on them but if I only get one or two then that's good enough for me knowing they're there. If I get none, then the deer probably aren't in there long enough for me to hunt and could just be passing through. I like to hang them about 10 ft. up with a climbing stick or whatever method you choose at a downward angle in line with the trail.

I echo buy cheap. I've had some stolen before, even locked with a cable. And yes, as long as you hang them high, you are likely safe.

I just got a few camera's from WalMart for $15/piece today. Wildgame Innovation Cloak 14MP. It may depend on where you live, but you can usually find trail cams at ridiculous sale prices online and then go pick them up. (PrimosBullet Proof is $13 as of this post)

Hang high. If bucks see them you are toast

This is totally true! I hang most of my cam's at 10 ft. Every now and then if I am getting eaten alive by mosquitoes or something I will just run in and throw a cheap cam down at eye level and it never fails that bucks stare right at it and often times I will not get another pic of them in that area.

I bring a climbing stick and hang high as well. I’m running browning strike force’s right now but mainly because they were gifts. I have one off amazon that’s like $35 and it works well too

I use stealth cams and wild games innovation. I like the stealth cams better bc it seems like I miss more pics with the wild games cam. I’ll hang them about 1 or 2 climbing sticks high and python lock them.

Pics from cam 2 sticks high.

I use some tasco and wildgame.. I use what I can find cheap, I just wanna know what's going on in the area's I'm scouting/hunting. Don't need a lot of fancy features, only one I like to have is video I use that quite a bit.

I use a few cheap Tasco one wild game camera and one Moultrie every season. I have never had a camera stolen. Knock on wood.. I don’t put them where everyone is at and I also make them work for it ie. hang high. Most people are lazy.
