Hi -
Curious if anyone has suggestions for below sit, it was two days after Pheasant opener and typically this pushes deer a bit. I jumped one deer on hike in ,about 3/4 - 1 mile from where I park
Green X = my sit near drainage / low brush for shots. I found scrapes incidentally on the hike out ( right of green x into clear cut = blue circle
I want to sit the scrapeline during favorable winds.
Plan to move my stand back to be only 10 -15yds from the red circle/ boulders
(Behind me)
Might be a better muzzleloader spot.

I may try to hike along highway and jump wire fence behind rocks( tips off my strategy to hunters arriving late)
Healthy amount of deer sign on edges of clear cuts and I have seen deer access these on edges- visibility is good but get the most hunter access / dog training pressure.
My cams off obvious deer trails did not have much predictable activity. And these get hit by pheasant dogs
My questions .
1. Should I think about a pre set tree leave wild edge steps at 12 feet and up . Then i set one step and climb.
2. I feel noisy accessing by day and I take the better part of a half hour to set up at20ft or above and fully settle. Haven’t had a zero dark thirty sit yet . ?
3 Wait until end of October when sign/ activity increases?
4.Or wait for wind stop over analyzing and get in a tree!?

My advice would be ease up on the caffeine, and get some serious exercise in to calm your brain down haha!

Really though, we can't tell anything from that map or the scattered information. Remember, most deer sign is left at night. They're nocturnal creatures.

On a micro level, I've found hunting scrape lines difficult. Many times bucks won't work them, they'll shadow the line downwind to scent check. if you set up in bow range, and they're 50 yards downwind, you're blown. If you set up 50 yards downwind and they work them, no shot.

Satellite image will be more useful than topo. If there's lots of bird hunters and dogs, be prepared for two things: deer to not leave bedding areas until later than normal, and for those bedding areas to be more random and change.

Lol. Thanks I exercise too much .
I’m feeling rushed due to work and am overthinking everything first year in a saddle.

I was afraid way too much detail

Kyler- Concise and straightforward ! True about the scrapes. Part of why I’m so conflicted about this spot.
I’m going to take about a week off and just watch the wind/ fresh sign as usual .
You have some great posts just saw your post on the thread about “ those who tried it all”
That just saved me some time :)

Oh man my brain just hurt from trying to decipher the map I have a idea where your at. I can take you to a spot easily accessible in am with some good chances

Haha_ Razorback thanks. Everywhere I pick is a long hike...!
In my head it makes sense. Not the on X waypoints though , most are two years old.

I hear you on the long hike with my leg issues the way they are I find areas that I don’t have to walk more than a mile and find the deer. Very few hunters in those areas to boot
