thats a nice buck you shot though. zero in on him from someone else's pics?
Curious with this setup how many pictures you miss with it being so high/far away. Is your camera angled down?
This is what I did. Works great. I use my one stick and set it once. Top of stick is close to 8 foot so I can set the camera close to 15’ while standing on the top step. Camera is in middle tree up high in the picture.

I've never been one to put cameras up on public land but I stuck a handful of them out a year ago. Haven't had a chance to retrieve them so I'm curious which ones (if any) will be left. More curious what pics could be on them after all this time. I told my wife I really need to get back out there and get them. The last time I went, the road was totally washed out and I couldn't get to them easily.
Yea my tactacam's dont take much farther than 20-30 ft away. never liked the idea of cameras until last year and the only other cameras ive tried was a wildgame innovations or whatever its called. that was even worse than the tactacams. so im not really sure what the standard is but im hesitant to put mine up high. I just brush em in low and pray. only had one prick mess with mine and i have his face and DNR id number memorized. i guess he didnt understand it was a cell cam...other than that most of the guys who hunt the public around me are pretty good people and we dont touch each others propertyCurious with this setup how many pictures you miss with it being so high/far away. solid buck. nice work.Nope I haven’t ran a single camera on that farm yet and it’s the farm I’ve killed my best deer. I can’t say I’ve ever had a kill related to a trail camera. They are still fun to play with.

With my in the tree cameras I constantly got wind pictures from nearby trees/branches swaying. I haven't found a good method around this. I also seem to get significantly less pictures from my up in the tree cameras. I haven't had any up in the tree cameras stolen though, and I have had plenty on the ground stolen.I honestly just put a couple out last weekend so not sure what I’m getting for pictures or what I’m missing. The bracket in the YouTube video allows me to angle the camera however I want so it’s definitely angled down. Both of the cameras I put out are in pinch points with a well used trail so I expect to not miss much, at least that’s what I’m hoping.

I use a simpson tie plate from home depot/lowes with four 1' screws on the corner, then run two eye bolts to make a hinge with a bolt and butterfly nut in the center. Screw the camera into the one end of the bolts and then use a truckers hitch with paracord. Works great, just very bright so I also throw some flat color paint on them. I believe someone on here or youtube does the same thats where I got the idea, called diy trail cam mount, cost a few bucks. I use wildgame cameras from sinpergear.net and just drill a hole if one doesn't exist.
That's why I don't use a strap. I buy that covered wire that HME sells, they have a gray-od version that blends right into most trees and it works great. I usually use a top and bottom wire. I've also used annealed trappers tie wire too but it is still a little more noticeable than the rubber coated wire. I also carry a climbing stick to put up about 10 feet as well. Depending on the camara it can be a pain to point it down though. The hardest thing I have found to camo and has given away more cameras than anything else. The STRAP. You can see a strap around a tree from 60 yards away.
I do like your style though!
Even taking your SD card is a huge violation in my book but at least they didn't steal your camera. People are jerks man very disappointing. Finally got my cams back this past week. Put 5 out, all 5 were still there. One was missing a memory card. I put them up as high as I could using 1 climbing stick.

I thought I was the only one thinking that...
I don't go in someone's garage to see what kind of cars they have..
So if i park MY truck on a public street...you would open up my truck and take a look around?? good way to get KO'dIt’s also public land, a garage isnt.
Why/how do your feelings change if it's illegal to have cameras out?So if i park MY truck on a public street...you would open up my truck and take a look around?? good way to get KO'd
i get what youre saying but its still someone else's property. if cams are illegal there, thats different i guess
