Purpose Bound Adventures Climbing Platform Video

I don't get it. Most saddle hunters started saddle hunting to get away from carrying and using that big noisy piece of metal around in the woods. I've tried to eliminate as much metal as possible in my hunting system. I wouldn't even use carabiners if I didn't have to.
 
Can’t fault ingenuity. I’m wondering what problem this solves. Personally, I’ve never climbed more quietly than with sticks and I’ve never made more noise than with a climber. Just my experience.
 
It’s working for him so that counts for something. I see two serious flaws for the way he is using it. First, using the mechanical prussik. Bad things can happen in a sudden drop. Second, no way to self rescue in his current set up. I know he ties a rope to the platform but that was pretty long. What if it drops and he tries to pull it up and it gets jammed and won’t move. No way to get down on the device he’s using.

Easy fix with a 30 foot piece of rope, a madrock safeguard, and a quick link.

I thought the same thing....there is some "built in" danger with that set up as it is. Even with that rope, I think it'd still be hard to wrestle that platform back up if you lost it. Plus, there is no letting out slack with that kong/ropman? on the tether. I'd definitely take your advice....30' of rope, madrock and quick link at a minimum. Ditch the tether, as is. Much safer.

Not sure I understand - using a system (saddle) that'll access most trees and pair it with something that, more or less, negates that advantage entirely. But, hey, if it puts meat on the ground for him...go for it. Still, as is, it's dangerous.....but better with 30' of rope, madrock and quick link.
