Question on quiver

Yeah, I saw the cover, but figured it was another thing to fiddle with and drop out of the tree, also would be in the way if a quick shot on a grouse presented itself. I see why some don’t like the Catquiver, chance of cutting your finger on a broadhead. I’m going to try it out how I like, then it’s a ST quiver strapped to something with a light internal frame.

I'd prefer the cover over exposed broadheads. The foam keeps them from rusting as well.
Everything is a trade off. If snow is blowing hard enough to need a quiver cover....I'd think there would be plenty of time to grab a grouse arrow.

Good luck with your choice. I'm trying to ditch the bow quiver this year myself.

I keep my quiver on my bow. I use an EFA strap on. I took one of DanOs steps, wrapped some duct tape on it and use it to hang my bow in the tree on the equipment strap I hang my pack on.

If anyone has an interest in a back quiver, you might want to keep an eye on @offgridthreads on instagram. Rick has designed a super functional and well thought out back quiver and is building up some inventory at this point. He is a co-owner of Packrat Outdoor Center up in NW Arkansas and an all round solid human. One of those guys you would always welcome on a hunt.

I posted a quiver thread but I found this one and starting to consider removing my quiver while in the tree. @GCTerpfan asked the op why, and if getting it closer to the tree was a reason. For me it would be about not having one more thing to get caught on stuff, as well as a thinner profile for throwing over or under your bridge. The big Jim bow holder I have comes off pretty quickly. I may sell my Great Northern quiver and keep the big Jim. With the short bows I shoot and the limb mounted quivers you can’t get the quiver up enough toward the top of the bow so my fletchings are all at end of my bow. This has been a annoyance for me for a while now. A bracket to remote mount them high so the arrows length is center to the bow was what I was thinking. However, having the quiver up higher would probably would put more torque on the bow, which would also be annoying.

I would consider a back quiver or quiver to attach to your pack or something along those lines. If I was hunting with my quiver off I would also be practicing with my quiver off.

Yea, I have been shooting this new bow without a quiver so I may stay with that. Worst case is I could keep the Big Jim quiver that I can mount and remove fairly painlessly.

I have done this, drove to my hunting spot, parked my truck and in 30+ years, I have forgot my quiver twice. Went to a bow mount for this reason.

I hand Ralph “Riverwolf” Webb make a Alpha quiver for me for this year. I don’t like a bow mounted quiver. The fletchings get wet, it doesn’t hang as well from the tree, etc. I strapped it to my pack with gear ties, I’m planning on using Voile straps for my Pacseat. Hunted with it twice, it’s great.

I like the look of those Alpha quivers. I can't tell what they're made out of though. PVC? Printed Kydex? Leather? Looks kinda synthetic but trimmed with leather.

It’s some sort of corrugated plastic core, I asked for it to be waterproof-ish and quiet got Strata camo fabric, it’s got synthetic or furniture leather trim. Very well made. Mine also has a removable soft cover for the end of the tube.

Ralph is a solid dude and makes a real nice Quiver. I don’t own one but if I was in the market for a Quiver of this style I’d get one of his.

I prefer a bow Quiver and I keep it on my bow year round. I only use Great Northern. I’ve tried others but these work best for me. They are solid and stable and one piece.

Been carrying the Palmer since the last rain. I hate having to think about the quiver, but full containment is the only option sometimes. I can get all of the essentials in the pocket. Definitely nice when walking through brush in the dark.

That said, I just bought another EFA with the totem and wing specifically for 2 blades.

It seems like the great northern quiver I have doesn’t hold the arrows straight in the hood. I think this is because the bottom holder is kicked out for clearance. Is there a way to adjust the top piece without ruining (bending) the quiver?

Can you see what I mean from this photo?0F4AE42B-04FA-40F5-9228-A2DE984DAD01.png

Looks like you just need to bend the top straight. They can take a little persuasion if you're careful.

That’s what I was thinking but didn’t want to screw something up.
