Questions on Bolts

The hand drill and bolts have become my favorite method over the last year or so; however, the only downside is the chance of them hitting each other while in the pouch from treehopper and making a metallic noise. It doesn’t often, but happens.

2 questions for the guys using bolts.

1. Are there any pouches out there that work well?
2. Where can I buy high quality carbon “bolts”?

I use this pouch. Many makers on amazon have the same item. The front picture with the cell phone holds the drill secure, two inside pouches keep the bolts quiet when walking but make some noise taking them out. I have also shrink tubed them so the only noise when taking them out is from the threads hitting each other. Pack them tight enough and you have no noise walking in.

I don't recall where I bought the bolts but the website was posted on here.

Here’s a couple setups I’ve used over the last few years. The one one the left is just a cheap shell holder with a carabiner to hang it when climbing. I stole this idea from Nutterbuster on here. It’s probably my preferred of the two. The one on the right is a roll up pouch from I believe CGM on here. It’s a nice pouch for its intended purpose. As far as the noise of the bolts clanging into one another, I moved to carbon bolts and never looked back. I keep a few steel ones in my setup to use like a ring of steps around the top of the tree if I need them.

Where do you get your carbon bolts?

I don’t remember the name, but if you do a search on here the company should pop up. Not sure how big an ole boy you are, but climber beware. Some tried them and went back to steel, some continue to use the carbon ones.

I use the tree hopper pouch with a bino chest harness straps
