Thought I'd pass this along.
The screw gates on my quick links always squeaked but didn't want to use any oil-based lubricants due to the smell. Instead, I closed the gate halfway and put some bowstring wax in the cavity. I then used a butane torch to melt the wax causing it to flow into the threads. Once cooled, I opened/closed it a few times to work it in and clear out the excess.
No more squeak or rattle.
