I like the safeguard so far but its so clanky and needs to be quieted down. How do you all quiet down or stealth strip your safeguard?

I stealth stripped the back plate and the top edge of the front plate where the handle rotates and makes contact. It doesn't completely deaden the sound but as long as I do my part to not bang the thing around I'm usually pretty silent with it.madrock1.jpgmadrock2.jpg

I took a small section of 1in tubular webbing and run that on my carabiner and through the holes of the safe guard..... that silences it pretty good from all the clunky clank from those two contacting.
Love it when folks thousands of miles away from one another employ the same approach to a problem without coordination between them!

Thanks for posting this up. Been meaning to see what others were doing on here to quiet it down.

Thank you for posting this. I just put a layer of vet wrap on that plate. I cut out the hole for the carabineer and left everything intact. Just tested it on the tree in the backyard. What a difference and I think now that there is not slop the handle is even smoother. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

I have kind of been messing with it most of the day, the safeguard that is. I don't really see a way that it would mess up the function. The way the safeguard is designed it actually pinches the climbing rope. The more down force the harder it pinches. Being what vet wrap is, it will just get pinched with the rope. I am not sure I am using the safe guard this weekend as I have bolts set up on the trees I plan on hunting. If I do one stick, then I will report back.

I’ve stealth stripped the front plate, taped the contact points of the holes for the carabiner, and shrink tubed the lever. It’s worked perfect since, I’ve rappelled 4 trees since all that with no issues
Will lost pics in a bit

I stealth stripped mine but to minimize noise when setting up before I head into a spot I preset the safeguard on my rope so there’s no messing with it at the tree. Just hook bridge on carabiner, adjust slack accordingly and start climbing.

Vet wrap on biner, rubber band around the safeguard when I’m not using. Once it’s in my hands I don’t make noise. It’s the getting out of pocket or pack that gets ya

Here's what I did. Its not perfectly quiet but much better than right out of the package. I need to put another strip of stealth strip where the pointer is. This doesn't quiet the side plate that much but way more silent then stock. SG1.jpg
