Last year I went to VAP arrows and the G5 Head Loc quiver that came with my Quest Thrive bow did not grip/hold the micro-diameter arrows well so modified it by adding mini rubber bands until the arrows were being held securely. I couldn't find any previous discussion about this topic and know the Tight Spot quivers are highly recommended, and while I'd rather 'buy once cry once' just can't at the moment. Looking for ideas on what others are using with VAPs. Thanks!

Last year I used the aluminum standard outsert but switched to the stainless outsert for a heavier arrow this year.

I have used VAPs for many yrs

A trick I learned was to screw in a small cabinet wood screw between the arrow slots

Then adjust screw depth to adjust pressure until u slightly tighten up the arrow holders on each side of the screw

If you can find an Octane Deadlock Pro quiver aka "The poor man's Tightspot" that'll hold Vaps with no problem.

Excellent idea Tapeworm.. Never crossed my mind... Thanks!

It acts as a wedge and u can adjust tension with very small turns of the screw

You using outserts? Me and Mr firnock had a huge head butting several times over his. 1 round was at the Kentucky ASA several years ago. Absolutely ruined me of the vaps but them arrows drove hard.

I thought they were outserts, but I guess VAP actually refers to them as inserts. The Aluminum ones that are included are 34gr, but I wanted more FOC so went with the 94gr SS ones.Annotation 2020-06-25 193840.jpg

They are called “insert outserts” I think but I say “outserts” and the original factory Al ones can bend a little too easily, in which case u remove it and reinstall a new one

They have now factory ones made of stronger Al, SS & Al/SS combo ones that are all definitely more durable

The Firenock is a very strong option that a couple friends love

Ethics has some very good looking options as well

Another guy makes some expensive Titanium ones

I love the penetration and flight I get and have been pretty lucky with lack of bent outserts so far for about the last 10yrs or so that I’ve had this original set

I recently switched out for a newer factory version that bring weight from 44gr up to 75gr

Going with .204 arrows with full insert system would definitely be easier to deal with and less chance of issues

For now I’ll keep rocking the VAPs tho since they are doing by the job well for me

look for deals on a tight spot quiver. worth the extra $$. sometimes camofire has them on sale for around 80 bucks. great investment and they are really adjustable, lightweight, well built, and low profile. you can also angle them to balance out your bow. rolls royce of quivers for only 30 dollars more than an avg priced one

Didn't have any bending issues last year with target or a deer shot arrows. Went with the SS this year more for the weight, but it does make the arrow/broadhead connecting much stronger as well.
Good to hear. Maybe he changed things over time. The arrows was great

I'm definitely looking a a deal on the tight spot, but it seems that the ones on camofire are always lefties. My hunts don't start to late September and I don't HAVE to get a new quiver, but if I can get one that doesn't need to be DIY'd it would be better. I will also be looking at the mod that @Tapeworm mentioned as well. Appreciate the ideas!

haha! im lefty...its usually the other way around for us and we cant find ANYTHING from scissors to bows/accessories. suck it! no just kidding. i know i have seen them on there for right hand in 3,5, and 7 arrow models but not in a while. AT classifieds usually have a few for sale as well
