Random Musings From Your Resident Contrarian and Underage Curmudgeon

I’m shocked such a generally helpful and optimistic group, is so salty and snarky. I feel a new kinship to many of you.

You had me at down with DST.

also I’m low on “merch” and tshirts / hats/ camo of questionable quality... if a few of you could create a few lifestyle brands and hawk overpriced junk on your YouTube channel to overdubbed music it would help me out - I’ll subscribe, comment and like in the comments below.

Come to think of it I almost have a season of saddle hunting and a lil’ buck under my belt..... #influencer

I hate that so many hunters turn into law breakers when they are on public lands.

You can't leave your tree stand up over night on WMAs in Minnesota (or all year).

You can't use trail cameras on WMAs in Minnesota.

You can't cut shooting lanes on WMAs in Minnesota.

You can't leave your canoe laying at a crossing on WMAs (or any other personal property) in Minnesota.

You can't leave your hunting blind over night on WMAs in Minnesota.

You can't use screw in steps on WMAs in Minnesota.

Apparently other hunters must not be able to read. I would prefer to believe that rather than believe they don't feel laws app!y to them. I follow all the laws, everyone else should too!!

There, I got it all out.

So where the hell are you supposed to put your canoe?

You can’t leave it sitting at a crossing for a week straight. It needs to be brought home with you every night. You can leave it while you are hunting for that day. I know of two canoes that have been left on a WMA for the last 2 weeks.

I hate it when people will take the time to write a manifesto but still have to use abreviations and texting shorthand. You obviously felt the need to tell everybody what is rattling around inside your kettle of a head, so how about you use actual words to express yourself.
Given that ole @kyler1945 loves to rip on me for my "Valley girl" vocabulary and acronyms, this is totes hilarious.

Much more better, lol.

That I can understand.

I think those canoes could use a few of those screw in steps. One on each side for some better handles so the bozo can take it home easier. Make sure you put them low to force the use of their backs.

Agreed. Part of the reason I started carrying a sharpie with me on wildlife management areas. I'm the kind of guy that takes down the unattended stands and leaves them at the bottom of the tree. Then I write a polite note on the stand asking the person to follow the rules. Screw in pegs don't get left though.
Also learned something. I don't remember reading that trail cameras are not allowed.
I thought you were going to say you filled in the camera lenses with the sharpie and I was going to be more impressed with your tactic!

Great idea. Sharpie loaded in pack.

Maritime law!
On NC gamelands, I am absolutely ruthless on ILLEGAL stands or abandoned gear. There have been many climbers or ladders left Ive found the woods that I have helped the owners be more compliant with the laws by making them useless. I don't take their stuff, but rather hide the cables or bottom section of the ladder semi close so that if they grid search, they might find them buried under the leaves. Again, key word is ILLEGAL, so anything goes as far as I'm concerned when I find them, and have been told by Mr. Greenjeans to have at it on several occasions. Cams are legal on NC gamelands, so other than doing the sasquatch walk in front of them, I leave them as I found them. If I found kayaks or canoes abandoned, I would not make the effort to get them out, but they would not float very well. This concept also applies to trail tacks.. I used to have a half gallon zip lock bag full of them I have pulled off gamelands where it is illegal to leave them after a day's hunt. Stay legal my friends!

Illegal + illegal = legal

And one more H8T since it is raining for the 1000th day this year on a holiday that could be spent hunting if it was better westher. I hate bow hunters that hunt in the rain - self explanatory. Even for gun hunters is bad idea if you make a marginal shot.
