Rappelling kit

Wrapping will work, for sure. It’s while it’s not around your leg. One slip while rappelling or taking off your lineman rope. Just safer for very little cost or time.

An autoblock knot/wrap works on the tag/brake end of the rope too and doesn't take much pressure to get it moving again. I just clip in the autoblock to a lineman loop or you could use a leg loop if rated.

Is the stopper knot to keep the girth hitch closed necessary? How do you tie this knot? I saw a vid where the knot slid to and from the girth hitch in order to move tether/rappel rope up the trunk for one sticking.

There are multiple knots that work for that application....celtic stopper knot is what I used originally but I believe I used an accessory cord with a sheath that to rough and could never get it tight enough. I ended up using a piece of flat elastic bungee strap tied with a uni knot....the elastic rubbery material grabs the rope really good.

Stopper knot behind the fig 8. Its a double safety precaution. back up. Probabaly not needed- but peace of mind. that the figure 8 CANT come undone.

In another terminology......A stopper is what you speak of on the . rope to hold the girth iotch in place so it doesnt fall. Slider knot is really a better term. Barrel knot I believe ..more of a Place Keeper than a safety device.

Yes this is what i was thinking of. The slider knot. How do you tie it?

I have been playing with using a castration band on the figure 8 loop itself. It allows me to cinch the girth hitch loop down on the rope itself, if that makes sense. This allows to pinch the loop closed on the rope instead of using the slider knot. Before going down... the band has to be slid back toward the knot to allow for easy rope retrieval. BUT.. My pull up/pull down cord MAY be able to pop the loop open from the ground. Still playing with that at ground level.

Thanks. I’m looking hard at the kit sold by ewo but not 100% sure I need or even want the safeguard vs an atc. But was thinking if I ever got into srt I might need the safeguard anyway. I did learn that an auto block is a good idea to add to the safeguard setup.
you will not be sorry buying your kit from DanO if price is not an issue...100% reliable equipment and so simple to use...less steps equals less chance for missed steps...rappelling is also so bad ass fun and fast...also if it suits you the rapple system can be used as both your tether and rappel rope so you dont need a separate tether set up...after rappelli g all this season I am convinced its the way to go...I have DanO's system and it rules!...if its not your thing that stuff sells on here like hotcakes
