Am I nuts for wanting to drop $1300 on this crossbow? I want to splurg on either crossbow or gun and thinking the Raven might be the ticket. What’s y’alls input on this bad boy? Over priced? Worth every penny? Let’s have it!

My father in law bought a ravin and loves it, the ability to decock it with the crank is an awesome feature. Super accurate. If im not mistaken that price tag for the ravin includes a scope and quiver. A mathews bow costs about 1100.00 bone dry, when you buy a mathews and rig it out you are upwards of 2200.00 I say if you are going to hunt with it as your primary weapon, jump on it!

You spent more than that on saddlehunting, so there’s that...........

I would challenge you to look at a Scorpyd. Not bashing Ravin by no means they’re nice. But I shot them side by side with an acculus and a nemesis 480. I personally liked the nemesis better and bought it. But it’ll launch an arrow like lightning. The Ravin couldn’t match the speed with the same arrow (22” black eagle executioner with brass insert and 100 grain head) accuracy is rifle like. I have the 180 lb 480 and it’s not bad cocking. I use a rope cocker. My buddy has a R26 and likes it but ultimately up to you. Just thought I’d give Scorpyd a shout being mines been so good.

I wasn't impressed with them. They had a penchant for breaking strings and cables, and at the time you could only press them with the proprietary press they sold. Last chance now makes an adapter, and im sure others do. But a lot of shops have no way to work on them still. Just something to consider.

I like to work on my own stuff but this is something to really consider. Hadnt heard about them breaking strings and what not. Will need to look into some more. Thanks!

Going to upgrade my deer slayer slug gun this year instead but the ravin was high on the list. Need to research it a little more as I want something my 9 yr old daughter can handle for next years deer season.

I love my r26 wouldn't trade it for anything. But the strings and cables are a weak spot. The factory ones suck I already gained an inch ata in one fall. That will be fixed shortly getting a set of gas cables and strings. Should be in mailbox when I get home. I am also upgrading the rest to a aerorest. Shooting heavier bolts was taking a toll on the stock rest too. But should be good to go now. Won't find a more manuverable bow in the tree or on the ground just a pleasure to hunt with. With talking with Dorge at firenock he says the r10 is the most reliable ravin made. Take it for what it is worth.

I can change the strings and cables on my nemesis without a press and it doesn’t have a rest to worry about. Just something else to think about if you don’t have a good shop around. Plenty of videos on YouTube to show how to do it and how to tune.

I bought the Raven R 10 and have no complaints. I would highly recommend this bow to anyone who is ok with the 1300.00 to 1500.00 price point. This is my first xbow and I can honestly say it`s pretty much been a plug and play tack driver. I was concerned about claims this bow groups like a rifle at 100 yds . It`s certainly true in my case. In reality my comfortable and optimal range range was 40 yds with my Triax. Now its about 52 yds with the Raven . I feel this bow is very capable of extremely accurate shots at 50 yds plus. Too bad I don`t hunt any properties that offer me those longer shots.

R10 is the most reliable bow in the Ravin lineup, the most cost effective and it is a tack driver. You don’t shoot the same dot twice. Really don’t hear many complaints about any model except the R26, which has had string issues. All come with a 5 year warranty and Ravin stands behind it solidly. There is a reason why everyone else has copied Ravin’s design. If you go with the R10 you won’t be sorry. There is ”Ravin Owners Group” on FB that you could look at to see what people who actually own one thinks about them. You will certainly catch flak for shooting one…even from those shooting their regular bow over a big corn pile. Lol. Good Luck!

I own a R10 & love it . Somewhat loud , but it’s as accurate as you are . Wouldn’t consider any other manufacturer. I originally owned a Mission & really no comparison. Keep up with the maintenance and it will last you a lifetime.
