Really Uncomfortable?

Has anyone gone up into the saddle and had it be really really uncomfortable around their stomach? I'm a bit overweight but not a ton, and the sides of my stomach where my saddle's bridge rested were sore for like 2 days after only a few hours in the tree. Was my tether too high or something like that??

I have been uncomfortable as well in the upper part my hips. But I think it’s all about tether placement. I haven’t had time to be able to adjust it and find the sweet spot. I think the higher the tether is, the higher the saddle will ride up. Try going chin level with the tether and mess with the bridge adjustment. Might need a day to just practice with it. I know I need to do that as well.

When I've experienced that in the past I would loosen the waist belt and drop the saddle lower on my butt so I was more sitting on it than I was wearing it like a pair of shorts. Tether height is the main culprit, the more you lower it the more comfortable it will be.

Just gotta tweak it to find what works best

I was getting upper hip pressure

It’s definitely worse when I sit

Like some others have commented:
-I lloosen my waist belt & pull the saddle a little more under my butt

-I also lower my tether height to reduce the bridge angle

Longer bridge and lower tether height is what I would try first. Along with loosening waist belt once at height.

When I measure for saddle size, this is what I do. Wrap the saddle around you like you’re going to wear it and hold the 2 bridge loops in front of you - I usually shoot for a 4-6” gap between them touching each other. If your bridge loops are more than that apart then you might need a bigger saddle.

Thanks for your input everyone. I really appreciate you guys. I like the saddle thing a lot but it was legit so freaking uncomfortable lol.

Have you had a chance to try any of the suggestions? Any feed back?
I’m not sure if anyone mentioned saddle shape. Above. I know I didn’t. But it’s a thing. Your saddle will become more comfortable as the season progresses. Not because the saddle changes but because you body does get used to the saddle.

I did a few long sits plus an all day about a week ago in a saddle I know is completely dialed in & I was a bit sore after the all day. Then last night was much better……

Another idea: try hunting from a larger diameter tree. Larger than the typically recommended "basketball diameter". in my experience: Cover is better, comfort is always superior in terms of: 1) knee relief, 2) hip pinch. Disadvantages: climbing may take more time (sending stick traps/ropes around the tree is trickier) and moving around it to shoot may also take some practice, especially with a X-bow.

I haven't had a chance yet, no sir. I have an infected tooth and I'm scheduled for 3:30pm today so I doubt I'll be in any condition to try it for at least a few days to a week. Luckily I have a ground blind that I can hunt from until I can do said fine tuning. I did have my tether way super high. It was up above my head. So that could easily have had something to do with it.

Small adjustments can really change your comfort level. My saddle sits low and I use a back band, really helps comfort.

I keep my tether about nipple high and my bridge 18-20" long. I am also a leaner. I believe this puts more weight on my feet and not everything on hips and butt. just something to try.

Oh for the record my bridge is as long, very long. My tether is very short. Head high and I sit.

I bought a pair of uninsulated camo bibs this year. It really made a difference for me not having my pants waist line material, normal pants belt and saddle all bunched up in the same area.

No problems as you describe. I usually put my tether at chin to forehead height. Good luck!
