Recon review and a draw for a free saddle

Another good review from MADHUNTS.
I have to say I like the recon and I did get a deal by buying two because I could not decide which bridge to get. I gave the other one away but first lent it to a few Canadians to try so their was no benefit to me.
I would concur with Mark that if funds were tight this would be my first choice in saddles. It is pretty comfortable with minimal adjustments. It is light weight and minimalistic

I have never tried the platform

Hey and enter a draw for a saddle.

That is a really good review. I've been very involved with Mark and his redesign of the Anderson so I already knew the Recon as well as anyone and there isn't much else that I could add to that excellent video.
The one thing that I would have liked to seen addressed is the routing of the sling webbing through the plates. In the video, you can see how the bottom section of webbing enters the side plates from the INSIDE and exit to the OUTSIDE of the plates. Personally, I prefer the bottom to enter the plates from the outside...just the opposite of how Mark ships them. I think the sling is even more comfortable with the bottom coming in from the outside. But switching it from one to the other is so easy. The straps just get twisted within the plates and basically, the switch has been made. I've been asked several times to make a video of how to do that. I need to. But my video skills are not nearly as polished as MADHUNTS' videos are.
Mark and I have talked many times about which way is the best way to route the straps, and it is a matter of personal preference. But thats one more thing about the Recon that is so nice. The user can easily tweak a few things and configure it just how they like it best. The Recon is so easy to experiment with and if you don't like what you try, then it is easily put back the way it was when Mark shipped it to you.
And I can't say enough about working with Mark Cama. He is a stand up guy 100%. He listens, he's alway thinking about how to make every product even better, and when dealing with him, he has total concern for customer satisfaction. If it ain't right, he will make it right for the customer. No worries about that at all.
Oh, one more thing, the Recon is sewn right here in the USA, by a skydiving gear company in Florida. Who would know more about manufacturing life sustaining gear than a skydiving gear manufacturer? And its great that the Recon is American made. Im getting a little sick and tired of crap coming from Asia.

Ontariofarmer, thanks for posting! ...and for the comments! Much appreciated!

Allegheny Tom, thank you as well for the comments! I would also agree with you about Mark being a stand up guy who cares about the products, we the hunters/end users, as well about making things affordable for everyone. I also enjoyed your video as well! Thanks for posting it!

Thank you both!

Mark Cama doesn't always get the credit he deserves on here for the Recon and his other products because they are "just remakes". Novice saddlers will miss the nuances and thought that went into his versions and he has many other great products out there too. Just spend a few minutes on the phone with him and you will know where his passion lies! Very nice to see the old Anderson roots alive and well and being rediscovered and brought to light by guys like you too! Tom and I might be known to be a little biased towards the slings, so it makes more for even more positive vibes when someone else chimes in on them. Great video!

Very well put, Bwhana! I was happy to review the Recon! I only wish I had known about slings back in the Anderson days! Thanks again for your support!

The more I mess with mine the more I like it. Although I suppose I could sew a couple mesh panels on it, change out the linesman’s loops and reroute my leg straps and call it a “Latitude Method” or something....

Haha! ...and after all that work you could've just bought a saddle! :tearsofjoy: Glad to hear you like yours!

I am intrigued by the recon, but I'm a penny pincher with a perfectly good saddle already.

Second review I've seen done by madhunts. Both were excellent!

I'd love to get my hands on the metal piece used to connect the saddle together and attach the bridge just to compare it to the ones DanO sells.

I’ve been satisfied with everything I’ve ever gotten from from him, just wish the website could get an upgrade or something. I’ve never been able to see the pictures (chrome, explorer, edge, Firefox) Just have to go by pics other people post in other places of his stuff.

Thank you, Homebrew454! I appreciate that! You should call Mark at Treehopper and ask him if he'd sell you one to compare. He's a pretty cool guy!

Great review! I love my recon. It's exactly what I got into saddle hunting for. Light compact, and comfy. I can throw it a 14 steps in my pack and hunt. If I don't use it, it's like it wasn't there...
And you were another guy that had a hand in the reintroduction. Thanks
