Reminder to be careful climbing in the dark

Just thought I'd post a pic from this morning. I was one sticking up a tree in the dark and bumped into a triangular wedge left over from a broken off branch that I didn't see in the dark. There was a sharp triangular wedge about 2-3 inches long protruding from a knob in the tree that caught my face as I stepped up. It took almost 15 minutes to quit dripping off my chin so I could put my face mask on. I used my sweaty t-shirt to clean up as much as I could. My wife asked why my shirt was so bloody when I got home this evening if I didn't get a deer this weekend. Luckily it was only in my sideburn, it could have just as easily been my eye.

Be careful out there climbing in the dark guys.

Glad your okay! Last year I hit my self in the face with my stick in the dark. Not hard, but enough I drew a few drips of blood.

Thanks for the well wishes. Bottom line its just another scar on my ugly old mug. After 35+ years of playing hockey without a face shield I'm fully versed in scars. If it were only true that chicks dig scars. My wife just shakes her head (and she just did).

Yeah, that face is beyond the point worrying about looks, lol.

I thought I was a big dude until I was at a Bruins exhibition game in Greenville (SC). I was under the stadium when they came out for warmups before the game and had to walk right by me…..huge.

Not so much, good thing I had a solid hold on the tree though. It surprised me and easily could have resulted in one of those dreaded one sticking slack falls.

Wow glad your ok! Also good it didn't gouge your eye. Never can be too careful when climbing but that is something you just typically are not paying attention to all the time

The tree and I fought to a standoff for 3 hours or so but then it gave up and didnt follow me out of the woods. Victory is mine!

Edit: For the record I left more marks on it than it did on me.
