Remington Model 7600

I love Kittery Trading Post. It was my favorite part of a summer trip to Maine as a kid (even over the beach!l).

I have 7600 carbine in 30-06 that I picked up used from Gunbroker for a little over four benny's a few years back. It has an elevated scope over iron sights. I'm not much of a tracker, though I yearn to be and have read Larry's book and attended his son's workshops.

I'm not a rifle aficionado but I like this gun. It's size works great in a saddle application also.
Tracking is pretty much all we do, obviously when we have snow, I find so many “sitting spots” off the beaten path when I’m tracking that I decided to research lightweight stand options this year after season during the winter, for when we don’t have snow early season or some years all season, and thats what got me onto saddlehunting this year. Growing up I read every book and watched every video I could of them guys (benoits) and went to one seminar, great guys. Tracking is a trial and error sport, more error than anything at first until your dialed in, being successful is doing a lot of little things right and having it all come together when it needs too. Hands down my favorite and most successful method for me to deer hunt. 75% of the time I’m tracking it’s with my hunting buddy, we usually work together.

I don't do much tracking anymore because I rarely rifle hunt anymore but there is a certain sense of satisfaction that comes over you when your successful. Any deer taken with this method is a trophy cause it ain't easy. At least not where I hunt.

So anyone wanna sell an older one? Haha
Since we weren't hunters, I spent my time there in the basement fishing section. Being from VT with no Cabelas or Bass Pro I thought all the fishing lures in the world were in that store.

I remember we had a set of beach towels from KTP that said "L.L Who?" on them. Classic.

Oh, and my 7600 rocks, to get back on topic. Dropped my best buck with it in 2017. Love toting that thing in the woods.
You guys are speakin my language now

With a good quality scope mounted right, you cant beat a 7600 for deer hunting. Hunted with mine for 25 years now. It has a nikon monarch mounted with a dnz game reaper one piece mount Blue locktited down. Mine shoots 1 to 1.5 moa with my handloads. Even sub moa on occasion, that depends on the shooter. Took a pile of deer with it over the years and several with handloads in recent years. Like some of the others mentioned, if you want a 7600 go for a older one and you want be disappointed.

I have a dnz Mount on my 7600 and my 700. Best scope mounts on the market.

I’ve got 2. A 270 and a 30-06. Both shot sub moa at 100 yds with handloads and about 1-1.5 with various factory. Handy rifles and what I experienced seem to be very dependable. Guys down here mostly dog hunt and they usually have 1 of 3 types of different guns....a Browning BAR, a Remington 7600, or a Remington 742 . I also own a Browning Bar MK3, no issues at all with cycling or accuracy.

Soooo, not for sale? Haha

Nothing wrong with them but for me if it’s not bolt action I’ve got no use for it. I’m just a Bolt Snob

I am too and I am fast on a bolt and am usually successful on a moving deer with one but some of the woods I hunt are tight and a pump might be that fraction of a second I may need for a follow up

Definitely not for sale lol. But I personally think they’re good guns off you can pick one up new or from somewhere like gun broker or armslist. Just taking a chance on used you know....I bought the 270 new and the 06 used.

The ones on gunbroker keep getting bid to the same as msrp tried to buy one new, says unavailable

@HuntNorthEast How much you lookin to spend? I'd pick one up for you if I see one. If you didn't like it I wouldn't have a problem keeping it for myself either. I miss the one I had.
It would definately depend on condition, usually a good used one in store is about 600 and I would spend that all day on one in 270 or 308, if I found a new one on the shelf I would pay MSRP at this point. So tired of the basement dwellers buying up all the guns and ammo!
