What is everyone using for a bow hoist these days? Ive seen Muddy brand and Doyle's.

What do you use and why do you like it?

@boyne bowhunter recommended this. Some of the best $6 I have spent In hunting. KISS.
I also have a 30' retractable dog leash I have used on and off. Strap it to my pack. I'll pull up my pack on my DRT rope which lets the leash out to my weapon. Then I can pull up my weapon once my pack is up. usually use that gun season.

Doyle’s rope hoist on both of my packs. They just work & I had one that started squeaking & they sent me a new one. It lives in the same spot on my pack belt & just gives me consistency, one less critical thing to forget or lose
Do.you have a fancy cover for yours or do you just rock it on your pack in bare plastic?

Bare plastic, tried inside the pack with a grommet. No real benefit, just like the simplicity of it. I will say once I used the rope the pull up my pack & gun for rifle bc for some odd reason I thought it was better that morning to try something new……..terrible idea. Took everything I had to get setup before daylight that morning.

You bring up another topic that maybe I should start another thread on?

How do you get up the tree with your rifle? Pull up rope?

I have a 26' retractable dog leash, purchased off of Amazon, for $18. It has the strap, not the cord. The cord can/will cut into your hand, while lowering it. I attach it to the mollie loops on my saddle with a non-locking carabiner.
Harbor Freight sells their version of one for $6.

I have the Doyle’s as well. I also like it as well. Simple to use. Attached to my pack so it’s always there. Wear the pack then pull the weapon up. It’s nice having the rope self wind into the case. Just have to take it slow to minimize the sound of the spring inside but that is not a problem.

I tried the HSS gear hoist. It didn’t last a season before the thing tangled inside and wouldn’t retract right. So I should have just spent the extra money first for the Doyle’s.

Just bought another Doyle's hoist. Got the the corded one this time. Doyle's just plain work for me . Keep it in the bottom on my pack and run it through a grommet and just forget about ever having to wined up my rope. Super easy.

Dog leash user here. Get a cheap retractable one, good for medium or heavy dogs (mine can probably tow 100# but it’s pretty unobtrusive on my saddle).
It’s lightweight, and I’m on my 5th season with the same one. Cost me $5.99 at IKEA. You can see it in my profile pic.
