Roll Up Rope Pouch Clone

4090sharps, if you decide to open shop back up on these, please send me a PM. I'm very interested in buying two of them. I currently use a nalgene bottle holder for my rappel rope but would love to try this out.

If y'all want to learn to sew, this would be a decent project to start on. They are pretty basic as far as sewing. Minus the zippers, no real sewing right side to right side and turning inside out. You could also easily make one with a cheap machine. Maybe start with a few boxy's/ZPP kits (https://ripstopbytheroll.com/collections/diy-accessory-kits/products/zpp-kit) to get the zipper work down and you will be sewing this no time.
I started with ZPPs and tool rolls (with no zippers), which are very similar

Alright, here are my patterns. All widths are 10", and I used a #8 zipper that has an overall tape width of 1.5". Folds are marked with a dotted line. You could simplify this a lot and save yourself quite a bit of time. However, I like the looks of this version, and the extra layers add some durability.

A little update. Binding the mesh (1" grosgrain here) and zipper lengths individually creates a cleaner appearance. I bind each piece, fold the bound section under and sew it flat. Then I align and zip the entire front panel together.

Once the back section is finished, I align the seam in the back panel with the top section of bottom zipper, and sew the two together. It works out pretty well.

I made the mesh sections a bit longer for this method; 8.75" and 6" tall (maybe the top piece of fabric too, I'll check). You'll end up with the mesh pieces being a bit long, but you can scrunch the mesh together to fit the length. This will make the mesh pocket roomier as well.

I've been brainstorming over these roll up pouches for a while. I have zero sewing skills so I retrofitted a pouch I found online.

Is anyone selling one of these pouches? Just getting into the one stick/rappel method and this looks so beneficial to me having things organized and not crammed in a water bottle pouch on top of each other. Please PM me if anyone has JUST 1 for sale. Thanks alot I appreciate it!

Not to speak for 4090sharps, but as a fellow Diy'r even simple things like this pouch take far more time than many realize. Unless a guy orders in huge bulk, materials alone cost us more than most want to pay for a finished product. Add to that Id probably have 2hrs into cutting material and sewing one up. Tough to sell something for a reasonable cost plus shipping when you look at the big picture.

If you're nit-picky about dimensions, which I tend to be, cutting materials is the absolute worst.

Not to mention the initial time spent laying out the design, then changes as you learn. Tough to put a value on that time. Im making one now based off dimensions I took from my current system. Im waiting on materials, but can already see changes if I made another one. lol
