I use a Maverick saddle and it has rope for a belt. Any one.use their rope belt to connect their figure 8 to to.rappell. I would leave the Shtict hitch attached to the primary bridge for back up. I was thinking use the belt rather than adding a second bridge. Any thought?

How is the rope belt connected to the saddle? From the picture it looks like it just runs through a channel along the top of the saddle. A continuous rope around your body is not the most comfortable rappel technique. Plus I’m not sure what cordage they use for the belt so the rating could be an issue as well.

I am not sure how many inches the webbing sleeve is sewn and what it connects to to know if the material surrounding the rope belt is strong enough to hold. The rope and hitch are strong enough but, that would be super uncomfortable to have most of if not all your weight singularly supported by your waist. The cover they placed over the amsteel makes it much easier to adjust the normal friction hitch, so why not just shorten your primary? Or use your tether or lineman’s rope quickly girth hitched to your bridge loops as a secondary?

I wouldn't do it. I had that saddle and IMHO the rope belt is not meant to be weight-bearing. It is meant to be easily movable/adjustable for comfort. Or at least that is how I perceived it. Might hold, or might not.

Your.right. It's easy enough to just rig up a second bridge on the loops. Even.an opening or detachable.one. thanks.for.the replies
