Saddle and Crossbow

I was wondering about the Xbow in the saddle as well. I use the Xbow when ground hunting for it's ease of use without much movement. I thought I'd be using the vertical bow only in the saddle but it's good to hear that the Xbow is still a viable option... Thanks guys.
 
Using xbow from saddle gets exponentially easier when you have a more compact xbow. Used the Equinox last year (1st year) and this year use the Micro Suppressor (both Excaliburs). Much improvement. One of those compact Ravins would be the cat's pajamas.

I use my son’s child/women sized crossbow. If it ever breaks, gonna get another child/women sized crossbow.
 
That is a great idea @hambone . I have been hanging my micro on the tree and feel like I was picked off once on the extra movement to get it shouldered.
 
I hunt with both and I never have had any issue with xbow. Just bought the R20 Raven with sniper package. Love it!!!! Used it this year during gun season instead of the 308 rifle, a lot lighter than the rifle.

I’m gonna give this a try I have a Parker tomahawk crossbow it’s small as well
 
I use a Parker Thunderhawk with no problem. Don't know if you heard Parker Bows & Crossbows are out of business. Fund out this week they will honor warranties until December 31 2018 on Bows & crossbows.
 
Used a full sized Equinox for my buck from a saddle this year. Two things helped having it almost resting across the bridge so there was little movement to shoulder and a big patch of hawthorne's he went through. I always rehearse getting it shouldered in different positions as well to try to find efficiency.

I ran a single point along and a picitenny attachment on my Xbox scope rail worked real well and would be good for saddle hunting
 
I didn't have any issues other than shouldering the stock sometimes the bridge would be in the way. The other thing is making sure you clear the tree with the limbs before the shot, otherwise it worked fine.
 
Totally nood question..... Do you draw once in tree or while still on ground then pull up without the bolt. When I use a lock on or climber I can easily draw while in the tree but I don't see how that can be done in a saddle unless maybe with something like a predetor platform.

Full disclosure, I have never hunted in a saddle but will be this year so don't be too hard on me.

I hunt off a RoS but I just put one hip on the tree one foot in the cross bow stir up and pull it back. It’s really easy.

My Mission doesn't have a stirrup, so it is a little more tricky to do in the tree. I do mine on the ground to hunt. I tested at height and can do it by pushing down with my foot as I pull the cocking rope, but it is just off to the side of the tree in mid air, not pushing down on a step or platform. I never miss, so the odds of needing to cock it again after a shot are zero anyway!

I would draw it on the ground with a hand crank . I did try and use a rope to draw it up in the tree but that was a pain in the butt and that was before I hurt back at work. I couldn't draw it without my hand crank so I guess I could do it up in the tree.
