Ok reporting back as promised after scouting Lake George. There is camping year round except general gun season) the site must be requested 7 days in advance to the St John’s water management district. They do not have picnic areas in the general hunting areas but they do have meet up areas in the camping areas. The inner road systems are very good. It’s over 39,000 acres but it’s split into 3 locations the north most location is 8 miles from the southern most area. It has many many water holes and some open grass plots. The trees are mostly pine in the south, good mix of hardwoods in the north. The “small game season” is November 29th 2021 thru March 6th 2022. There are no quotas required for small game season. So we could plan a meet up for anytime during small game season, even reserve some camp sites, do some intros, show and tell, some easy lessons for new hunters, and put on a hog hunt? If there is a better option I’m game for that too. Everyone just let me or (perhaps Weldabeast) know, and we will get this thing put together.. I do see this spot being kind of an in between for North and Central Florida hunters.
