Saddle Practice

I have shot multiple animals while in a saddle with a crossbow. It sucks, but is doable. Practice. I usually sit back in the saddle. Put my foot in the stirrup and balance on my left foot and saddle as I pull the string back. I have done that within 20 yards of an old 8pt and got him. Slow and steady is very deadly!

I have to admit I don’t know much of anything about crossbows. Am I to understand that they are really hard to load in the tree? Does this mean you have to pull a loaded weapon up the tree?

You cock them on the good and then pull them up. You don't insert the projectile until you are in the stand. Most crossbows have an additional safety to where if no bolt or arrow is loaded it will not dry fire. Technically you are pulling a cocked weapon up with no projectile, kind of like with black powder you remove the primer and your weapon really isn't loaded.

Edit: changed you to your.
