Saddlepalooza demo question...

The one stick method demo has me curious. I’m looking into incorporating this in my hunts. Was the kong duck used to rappel?

I’ve tried researching this and have not seen anyone using it other than an ascender.

I’m pretty sure everyone was using a mad rock safeguard and I believe it was because most of the one stickers were also using sterling oplux rope which the mad rock could handle the rope DIA.

Thanks I’m looking back into my photos. Just want to make sure, is the safeguard adjusted on the tether during the climb and the sit like a kong or ropeman?

Most of the people demonstrating One-stick climbing on youtube videos are using the Madrock Safeguard as their device. With that device (and also with the ropeman 1 device which is an ascender and not appropriate for rappelling) I believe it is best to use a 8.5 mm or larger rope rather than the 8mm rope many people like. In two of the 3 one-stick videos that I like best the people are using 9mm rope, but I believe there are videos where people are using 8mm rope out of spec (for both the safeguard for the ropeman 1) but some of them say they know it is out of spec and are assuming that risk (of the rope slipping through the device). I haven't tried saddlehunting, or 1 sticking yet, but I have ordered everything that I need and I will be trying it (first testing the equipment in my back yard and then hunting) on several different hog hunts during this next month. I am still waiting on my rope and my safeguard to arrive. The 9mm rope that I ordered was Sterling C-IV Canyon Rope. I got 100 foot of it from Optics Planet and I will use 40 foot for a rappelling rope, and the rest I can use for things like making linemans loops and tethers for my family members who I hope to get into hunting. (It is always good to have some extra good rope around.)
