Saddlepalooza 2021

Yeah....I just showed up last year, didn't "signup". If u just pay them at the building it's no big deal. I've camped there years before I knew what saddlefest was and every time I had to deal with them it was pleasant. I have a rifle on file with them but I just take the bow and don't bother with all that gun registration....the hunting part is fun but I had more fun at camp around the fire.

Requiring an isportsman just to camp is a new thing?

I might stand corrected reference registration of firearms. still trying to confirm.

According to Monica you need an ISportsman account to camp unless your active or retired military or DOD. They started this a few years back. She also stated, Firearms need not be registered unless going to an active training area. If you want clarification on active training area please call (912)767-0975, I tried no answer there.

Weldabeast. Did she give you a specific site. Just trying to keep up with number of sites needed. I had reserved sites 16,17,18,19 for saddlepalooza attendees. This is the same area in the field we usually occupy. I done nothing with the pavilion as I was not going to attempt catering meals. Really going to miss the jambalaya though. I was given an old registration with a lot of phone numbers, planning on texting everyone over the next few days

I wouldn’t get caught off the highway with a weapon that wasn’t registered. Unless they made some major changes in the last 12 months you can’t hunt with a firearm that isn’t registered. Everywhere you can hunt is a training area. The ones they are actively training in are closed to hunting, hiking, bird watching etc. so I’m not sure what she meant by that statement but I wouldn’t base my defense on what the lady at the campground said.
It’s an awesome place. I haven’t missed one yet. I’m sure I’ll drop by on Saturday at the minimum.

This thread is helpful. The first post has links to the i sportsman and also the link for the avenza maps that show the hunting areas and is gps linked to show where you are. It’s pretty helpful.

Reference firearms. Only need registered if going past a gated entry point into Garrison area. Trying to add a screen shot if the rule.

I stand corrected. That’s actually a surprising rule change. Before now people haven’t been able to hunt Stewart on a whim.

I just joined saddlehunter.com. I am doing research to purchase initial saddle hunting gear (most importantly a great saddle and platform since I have most of the other stuff I need). I want to attend your next Saddlepalooza or similar meeting whenever you have it since I want to learn more. I have hunted a lot in the past ten years, mostly in Central FL, and some in other FL and GA areas. So far I have only killed 6 deer (and more hogs) and only one of the deer was on public land (the other 5 were on leases), so I am a novice. I started my hunting efforts 10 years ago with ladder tree stands, and then switched mostly to climbers, and just this past year I tried climbing sticks with hang on stands, since I wanted to be mobile but also wanted to allow family members to sit with me in the same tree (assuming they carry in the 2nd hang on stand) while I hunted. I am trying to get other members of my family interested in hunting, but am having only limited success. On 12/31/20, I retired from a long career, so I should now have more time to learn and hunt in the upcoming season. I figured I should post on this thread in case someone is building a list of who is interested in attending Saddlepalooza.
