Saddlepalooza 2021

I just joined saddlehunter.com. I am doing research to purchase initial saddle hunting gear (most importantly a great saddle and platform since I have most of the other stuff I need). I want to attend your next Saddlepalooza or similar meeting whenever you have it since I want to learn more. I have hunted a lot in the past ten years, mostly in Central FL, and some in other FL and GA areas. So far I have only killed 6 deer (and more hogs) and only one of the deer was on public land (the other 5 were on leases), so I am a novice. I started my hunting efforts 10 years ago with ladder tree stands, and then switched mostly to climbers, and just this past year I tried climbing sticks with hang on stands, since I wanted to be mobile but also wanted to allow family members to sit with me in the same tree (assuming they carry in the 2nd hang on stand) while I hunted. I am trying to get other members of my family interested in hunting, but am having only limited success. On 12/31/20, I retired from a long career, so I should now have more time to learn and hunt in the upcoming season. I figured I should post on this thread in case someone is building a list of who is interested in attending Saddlepalooza.
please text or call me I'm in Central Fl. as well I can give you some info reference upcoming saddlepalooza 2021. 352-636-6028

Yea please. I’ve reserved 4 sites for whoever wants them. It’s looking like we will need several more. Just started texting everybody I had numbers for. Lot of people didn’t know it was still happening this year. Im sorta organizing it. But no where near as much as Greg used to do. Didn’t want involved with collecting money for camping and meals. To hard to arrange catering when I’m 5 hours away. I may try an make a big thing of chili for everyone on Saturday night. Just depends on number of people and help if needed. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Hey everyone, I was the one that set up the campsite last year. I am still active duty but won't be able to make that week this year. I will be going the week prior (as this was the week I thought it would be happening this year. If there is anyone that can't make the scheduled time (16-20FEB) but can make the previous week (8-14FEB), I will be there. There is no longer any requirement to register firearms on Stewart if you are going to keep them outside of the main base. Proper license and registration are needed to hunt and Fort Stewart has raised their rates this year for access to the base hunting land, so keep that in mind. I will be camping in a hammock and bow hunting again this year. I will provide updates if I get lucky so you all can get a little intel prior to arriving. Sucks that I am going to miss it.

Yeah that dose suck good luck

Just curious if anyone got a number on how many people plan to attend this year?

I would like to come. I have never been to it. It sounds like a chance to learn a lot and build friendships with fellow saddle hunters. We could have it up where I live in N.W. WI but no pigs to hunt. In fact really no hunting seasons in the summer. I would be happy to help plan, as I am retired. I could help most if we want it up here. If not anything I can do to help remotely I would be delighted to help.

From what response I’ve had I would guess 20 or so as well. I’ve sent text messages to everyone who attended a few years ago (had an old sign up sheet). Surprisingly a lot of people did not even respond at all. Buckeye hunter and his brother are both coming but they haven’t posted it here. Glad to say the saddle hunting world picked up a new hunter down in Florida close to me, we’ve spoke on the phone and he’s coming.

Just sent Greg and Ernie another text hoping to hear from one or both. I know there’s a lot going on up there between innovation and trying to keep up with all the orders.

We purchased a house in Haleyville, Al I will be saving my money to purchase an out of state lic for AL
I understand that and wish you the best of luck

Just found out about this, but I don't have a lot going on this month so I'm going to try and talk the wife into another trip down to GA. It looks like an awesome event that was maybe forgotten about due to COVID, but I'd love to come down and try to keep the tradition alive.

Heard from Greg, between COVID and other issues their not going to make it this. Hopefully next year.

Anyone else tossing around the idea of making over a 10 hour drive to make this or just me??

You might be traveling the most. My drive is only about 4 1/2 hours
