Safeguard vs ISC D2 Escape for Oplux

To close this loop, here is the response I got from ISC if anybody else is looking at the D2 Escape...

Thank you for your enquiry.

The D2 Descender is a single use device, for escape/evacuation and should be retired after one use of this kind. However, for use in a training environment, where there is a backup system in use, the rope can be changed. The RP860 D2 can only be used with Approved ropes (a choice of Sterling 8mm PER, or 100% Technora Aramid Rope). Typically, the PER rope is favoured as a multi-use rope, for training purposes, with premium Technora rope generally only being used/suitable in single-use applications, where high heat resistance is required.
