Help a noob out. What am I looking at? I see the crazy knot on the ropeman. Dont see any tail coming out of the ropeman. Just trying to learn.

I got corrected on an idea I had, which i appreciated and still trying to research all the correct alternative methods. I understand I'll need a couple years or more thorough research on anything before its put into practice. Perfectly fine with my stock kestrel until I feel more confident to jump out of the nest. Obviously with forum approval. But just trying to use criticism/correction above as another learning point but dont know exactly what's going wrong.

I also i think the Amsteel is smaller diameter rope than the Ropeman is rated for... Along with the what others already advised.

Basically He's using a slippery cord which gets all its stength from the sheath in a device that may not grip and if it does tends to cut sheaths and puts a lot of stress on them in operation. And backing it up with a *** knot in a rope that doesn't hold knots.

Bout sums it up!

And we can only imagine how the amsteel is tied to the tree... probably a square knot based on what we do see!

Facebook...
I went looking. I caution you on reading the posts after @Mengle responds.... it'll make your head hurt

That's definitely not good. From what I see it's very dangerous. I don't understand why someone would do that. What is the purpose of the ropeman. Please be careful don't be a sadistic .

Hopefully this will wake up anyone how even gave a thought to a Ropeman Amsteel combo. It’s unfortunate when people won’t listen to reasonable advice, I’m glad you tried, at least you have a clean conscience, if it ends badly. Be safe out there, it’s a long season

This was the next picture. I refuse to dig a deeper hole with him as he clearly doesn’t care.

It’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

OMG!!! I'm hoping it is at least spliced but I'm guessing that's not the case. Potential Darwin award winner...Pray it doesn't happen.

Bro, I have a family member that when you step back and watch her life for the last 10 years, full on dumpster fire in slow motion. I tried with the friendly advice, which turned into a very loud argument, twice. Now I just sit back, help when I feel like it anonymously, and don't say a word.

Sometimes you can't get through to people, and as long as you clear your conscience, what happens after that is their deal.

I agree, you did your part by trying to point out an unsafe setup. What someone does w/ that information isn’t your responsibility! I think back to how many times a friend of mine refused to wear a safety harness. Can’t make him.....
