Scent Distractant

Did he have deer to back it up? Or just loose woman from the bar?
He killed a few deer. With a rifle. Generally leaving. Also complained a lot about not seeing as may deer or killing as many deer as the rest of us. LOL. He was different. Setup a trap target in the house and shooting from the living room through the kitchen and into the back bedroom could get I think 35 yards. Wife didnt have a problem with it either until he decided to check the scope on his ML. Everything from .22 through 30-06 got sighted in inside the house.

I mentioned a 35mm film canister at work and most of the people had no idea what I was talking about. Some of you are showing your age. I buy raccoon urine from a trapper supply store and have used it on my boots and around my stand. It seems to calm the deer for some reason. I’m not allowed to bring it inside the house though.

I was watching on of Dan Infalt's videos about his bear hunts and they were using some strong extracts and that made me wonder how a spray bottle of water with persimmon extract would work for deer. The popcorn would be considered baiting here on public plus it would be hard to get the microwave to some of the spots I hunt. :)

There are pictures of me on slides lol.

I have tried the vanilla and peanut butter when I was a teen. Can't say I attracted or scared deer. I remember sitting in the middle of all this smelling peanut butter and vanilla and getting hungry on a cold November morning, when it used to get cold in November.

Now days I keep my hunts as organic as possible, no doe p, grunts, mock scrapes or anything else. Though I have used the previous very successfully in the past, but now it's just my preference not to.

I miss those old film canisters. Free storage containers for anything small. Used to have them laying around everywhere. I'm down to only a couple now.

I’ve tried corn scent, persimmon scent, and vanilla too. Deer always seemed to be curious with those. I tried some tinks 69 early in the season and had does blowing at it all morning. They would walk straight to it and about 20 yards out start stomping and snorting. The only other time I saw does do that was with a deer decoy. It was quite entertaining.

The only commercial scent I ever had any luck with other than just adding a tiny amount of doe in heat to a real doe tarsal was BFO (Bowhunter's Fatal Obsession) scent. On the lease. the deer either loved it or hated it. I have had does and spikes come in dead downwind to BFO and hang around for a long time. It was weird. I have no affiliation, by the way. It just seemed to work on some deer.
