Where the skys are so blue!
Curious to see what folks are mainly using. I started out a screw lock guy, then went to a wiregate (bad nutterbuster) then to a grivel double wiregate (good nutterbuster) and then finally to a petzl autolocker as my main carabiner. I use one on my linemans and two on my bridge since I keep it permanently attached to my tether and hook up by connecting the bridge to my bridge loops instead of connecting the tether to my bridge.

For me, the half second I save not screwing a carabiner matters. Mental stability I guess. I still squeeze check all of them to verify the locker did its thing. I know they "can" freeze, but down here I think that's a very remote possibility.

So, what y'all be usin'?

Screw locks. I scared my self one time with an autolocker. I thought I had it firmly attached on my linesmans and looked down only to see it had closed across the loop and wasn't fully engaged. Ever since then I use screw locks since they won't screw closed if they're open at all. Time to screw them closed is irrelevant to me. I've actually got to the point now where it is entirely automatic to clip it on and screw it closed.

I use screw gate...no particular reason, that's just what I ended up with....also maybe because all the autolocks I've ever used were on crap safety harness I had to wear while working and those sucked a big 1 so subliminally I dislike them

1 on linesman using regular prusik and tender and 1 on tether using regular prusik and tender that also doubles as my rappel device.

As long as you dont get lazy and squeeze check them EVERY time, and dont mix them with non-autolockers....autolockers are good!

I still stick to screw gates for various reasons I think I've probably mentioned a few times :)

The two step auto lockers are nice but the three step ones are a pain, plus screw locks are usually lighter. I think a more fun conversation would be on preferred shape of your carabiner. Do you prefer a large oval, pear shape, the thin frames that pinch in a rope man or the more rounded frames that weigh a little more? Personally I like a mid point frame not the ultra thick one nor the super skinny like the mini screw locks from black diamond. I am also weird in that I prefer a true D shape carabiner (screw lock)like tech rescuers use. They are the strongest ones, and they rarely slip into side loading the gate. One draw back though is your bridge might not slide in it quite as easily if you use a webbing bridge instead of a rope bridge...

The screw locks are cheaper and lighter that is reason enough for me!

Autolocking, but I check each and every time that it is closed.

Rock Exotica Pirate and Rock’O are my favorites. Triple action/ double locking, but pull the gate down rather than pushing the gate up like other double lockers. Very easy to one hand open.

I got more biners than I need though. Lots of DMM, CT, Petzl, Kong, ISC.

Screwlock. I check it about 500 times a hunt. I had the same autolock problem happen one time at work where something got caught in the closing mechanism. With a screwlock a have to screw it every time and that makes me check it.

only roll with non locking.just an extra part i dont need.extra step i dont need.extra sound i dont need .all i need is personal awareness.i just climbed a ladder at work with a hundred pound roll of cap sheet on my shoulder no linemens no three point contact .osha does not aprove this.am i stupid .....yep
