SHIKAR Aiders

I also bought the versa aider from backwoodsoutdoors. To mess around with along w the cable aiders. I ordered the 18” aider. It is a swaider but it hooks around the versa button via amsteel endless loop. I find that I am getting the same height and it’s is super solid and easy. Like Ive said I am not a aider guy but both of these options seem doable! With 2 sticks w cable aiders I got to just over 9’ and with 2 sticks w versa aider also just over 9’. I am climbing with the 17” shikars

You can't tighten it down too tight or the cable aiders will not be able to rotate. I also can confirm the eye on the LWCG cable aiders is 5/16.

How long are the cables from LWCG ? End to end before tied into stick?

I am going to try a double step cable aider for the first stick. That way if i lean a stick against the tree. The top of the first stick will be 7.5 feet.
21’ for four sticks
25.5 for five
31’ plus for six with platform.

I think if I use one of these i can add the first of the two steps.

Here’s my quick diy one . Need to get some grade 8 hardware. 1/4 -20 bolt works . None bigger would fit with out drilling .

I may make them out of 3/32 cable instead of 1/8th like shown to get a smaller cable loop under the step. Then paint the galvanized cable black.

2 together fit perfect together. Wrap them with the strap you are using. They ain’t coming apart. You can hold 2 pair with a nite ize gear tie. Perfect!
 
There's a video of Matt Garis showing two sticks stacked together and he has some kind of kydex holster holding them together. I'm going to by some kydex and try to make one. Straps work just fine to hold them together for now.
 
Got my 15” fixed Shikar in for one sticking. Might swap the top step with a scout.

The demo of the versa aider make them look good. But there is one nagging item in the back of my mind. Are the bolts used for “versa buttons” grade 8? Will they be able to handle body weight? What is your take on this?

I tried it out and I am over 260 at the moment and did not break anything.
 
Man I am hoping this setup works out. 2lbs as it sits with 15” stick, DanO versa strap and backwoods mobile 2 step aider. Add the scout probably add 1/2lb. That’s 2.5lb for climbing method and platform.

Yes the versa button is made to hold the entire weight of the stick and person as it is the attachment point. Matt garis the owner said something about it in his FB live video. I’ll text him and ask what it’s rated for. But I am sure it is 100% safe.
