SHIKAR Aiders

Thanks! Good to know for my Shikar steps.

Matt said they are rated at 3400 pounds. Also said that there is much more pressure on the stand-off bolts. Not to worry about it but make sure bolts are tight from time to time. That is when bolts become weak, if they are loose.

Wanted to post this pic that shows my attachment to saddle for climbing. I made endless loops through the hole on bottom and attach to saddle using the j hooks. Works really well, simple solution.

Oh boy....

they have a mini Shikar sticks available now. How am I not going to order one of those now???...sigh... looks like a pretty good one sticking option. It’s ~16” when folded.

Got one with the Scout coming and going to add LW wire aider and going to try some 1 sticking.

I think I am going to try resisting buying one of those mini sticks. I think this little 15” one I had made will work great with scout and 2 step aider for one sticking.

I may cut it down, drill it out or leave it alone. Also thinking about putting a cam cleat on....hmmm. It’s right at 2lbs 14oz with 8ft DanO daisy chain.

I also bought the versa aider from backwoodsoutdoors. To mess around with along w the cable aiders. I ordered the 18” aider. It is a swaider but it hooks around the versa button via amsteel endless loop. I find that I am getting the same height and it’s is super solid and easy. Like Ive said I am not a aider guy but both of these options seem doable! With 2 sticks w cable aiders I got to just over 9’ and with 2 sticks w versa aider also just over 9’. I am climbing with the 17” shikars

How wide is that webbing? Going to make one of these. I'm thinking I can use 3/4 or 5/8 webbing.

I ordered one of those mini sticks. 15% off.... I lost that psychological battle.

I am using the wire aider from LW for my 1 sticking setup and it is working quite nicely.

That's basically the exact same set up I use for one sticking, minus the scout, which I may add.I put two steps on the strap so I can walk around the back of the tree.

Anyone place a LWCG aider on a beast stick(s) and have pictures of how it attaches and how it now stacks?
Thanks in advance.

I have the DanO j hooks and I used paracord. Anytime the stick or platform got bumped, he string pushed off the j hook and down went the stick / platform.

What size amsteel blue are you using for your endless loops and does that provide enough friction to keep it in the j hook?

Thanks!

Had the same problem with the j hook. Switched to nite eyz hooks and plastic S biners (thanks onestringer). Works great, but not as good as a stick talon!! But whatever system you use, have fun!!!

I used 1/8 amsteel. I haven’t had an issue with the coming off on their own

I just got my shikar mini. Looking at Backwoods mobile gear, when I look to order the shikar aiders it states shikar as 16" and so on or shikar custom. Which one would or should I get for the mini?

Here is what I am going to try out.

Mini stick with versa aider at 22” step and scout platform. Just under 2lbs. If that sucks I am gonna try out a 2 step aider at 17” spacing.
