Random thought from a tree

A lot of boots with round and firm laces come untied, with the old school flat laces being better
A lot of hunters probably double knot their laces because of this but having 4 loops on your feet you can’t easily untie and that get tighter with pressure probably isn’t the safest way when climbing

there’s another method I learned for snowboard boots that hold tight but untie if any part is pulled hard enough

start your bow as usual but take the lace around the other twice instead of once

when this is pulled it will form almost a clove hitch

it’s probably called double overhand

next form your two bows and do the same thing, go around each other twice instead of once

be safe out there

you can see the double overhand in the top pic, pull that tight, then make your two loops with your tag ends and then do that same double overhand but with the loops instead and then pull

these boots were a bad example because the laces are paracord and i tied knots in the end of the laces to keep them from pulling through the boot eyelets....where the aglets usually are, the knots would prevent the shoes from untying if hanging by the loop, those are old boots that i don't wear anymore except to shovel snow real quick, etc

true, if something really grabs it then they do come untied, they are not as secure as a double knot but are much more secure than a regular bow.....if i catch something really hard walking, i'd prefer my shoes untie than for it to trip me
