Since moving on to shooting higher caliber strait wall stuff. I have finally given in and realized I suck at shooting, and for the cost of ammo, I should invest in a shooting sled to zero my stuff In. How much do you need to spend? Lead sled seems to be the main one out there. Another?
Asking you big shooters out there.

Just my opinion, I think those sleds are not great products. Very cumbersome and bulky. I'd go with bags filled with rice. There are decent shooting rest bags available on azn.

I agree w/sureshot! They are way too bulky for me to carry to the range w/my other gear. This may get you some wierd looks but it is lt. wt. and fits in my range bag. Finely adjustable. Put a rice bag on top if you want.

I bought one and used it a few times then gave it to my brother. It will reduce even the most savage guns to 22lr like recoil.

But imo they're not healthy for creating good habits. Just because you can shoot a howitzer off the sled doesn't mean that will translate to off the sled and in the field. Your mind won't forgot that the sled is gone and that flinch will come back.

Not the answer you wanted but oh well.

I use a Caldwell Lead Sled with weight added to shoot my 416 off my bench, the adjustment bolt on the bottom bent from the recoil, and that same bolt has shredded the boards on top of my bench, but it works, and the $150 Leupold scope on that rifle has never lost zero even under the worst possible conditions in my opinion, having the crap kicked out of it in that weighted sled.

Not really looking to shoot it a lot. Just send a few down range. Zero it. The DNR range has bags and some wooden rests to shoot off. But hard to hold the gun steady and adjust the scope. I just want to make sure it's me and not the gun.
