Just thought I’d put this here as kind of a thank you to the forum in general and maybe a better visual if there are newer archers here (like me) to see a result from in the field. Being newer to archery I’ve really focused on close shots and my first 2 does this year I waited until I had a completely broadside shot. Today I didn’t have that opportunity due to a variety of things, my best look was finally a quartering away shot. I’d credit who I first read it from on this forum but I can’t find the specific person, but someone/someones with far more experience talked about aiming for the exit. I try to make that thought part of my routine before I release the arrow and it resulted in a shot I was happy with today and a deer that went down in about 40 yards. Top photo is entrance and bottom is exit. Shot was from 22 yards. Best of luck to all as the season rolls on!A6F8ABF1-78EF-4587-8460-FD3224982F41.jpeg84144665-41C4-4BB8-A138-6183D5D50A34.jpeg

Aiming for exit changes everything for the better. Congrats!

Thanks all. We’re at 3 arrows, 3 deer, furthest any went was 40 yards and about 75 total combined. I’ll take the tiniest amount of credit for shooting my bow a lot but a majority of it goes to reading this forum and listening to experienced hunters. I’ve been blessed to take 3 shots at deer that didn’t know I was there so they were not on high alert, I aimed for my exit each time, and I kept shots close. Those were 3 big keys I took from here as a newer archery hunter and I’m thankful for this forum and it’s participants for discussing them openly.
