Good job! Funny, I was just down there on Saturday for the first time. Never been there or seen a sika before. I just went into public land and hiked in about 2 miles. walked to water until I couldn't go any farther. About at sunset the stags started going crazy! Bugles all around. I ended up have a spike stag come by at 80 yards, and that was the closest he got. Had a blast, and cant wait to get back down there. Your right about a GPS, It got alittle hairy getting out of there at dark!

I ended up trying the Chesapeake forest lands. I could tell there was alot of sign of hunters in there and not alot sika sign. I just keep walking until I found some.

I just found this thread, but sika hunting is one of the coolest things i have done. I was fortunate to hunt on a big private place right next to the blackwater refuge last year during the big cold snap. The ground was covered in snow as we pulled into the place. We were taken to our stands and those deer started coming out I was amazed. I felt like i was in Narnia. They manage for stags there so i never had a shooter come by. And when i made my mind up to take a hind, they were so bunched up i couldnt shoot one without hitting another. Very cool animal and hopefully will be back up this year to do it again
