Silencing/camo-ing metal gear

Yes, but can't replace everything, unless you're using soft shackles instead of carabiners
True that. I put gaffers tape around a couple
Of my beaners, it silences them and eliminates reflection. However, so far I’ve found that if a single carabiner is the only metal in my rig I don’t have any issues with noise.

But yeah, I usually use 2 beaners… and it’s never been a problem.

I am dragging myself kicking and screaming towards the no metal gospel because even if I only have one metal thing out, I'll find a way to bounce it off my stick, or the buckle on my saddle or something. I fought it being a know it all newbie that "didn't trust his knot tying" for long enough. You are all correct and knots aren't actually "harder" just different.

I like stealth strips for their silencing but we all know that if you want to remove it from something you are better off throwing the item away and buying a new one. Not necessarily a bad thing and a great that you know that it will stick. I bought some 3M tape on Amazon a while back, I believe this may be the exact same thing as LWCG slayer tape. LWCG slayer tape is $3+ per foot for the one inch. Stuff I got is much cheaper. Although it has gone up 27% since I bought it. Anyway, I like it and it's a good option if you may want to remove it as it comes off without leaving a mess.

That's a beal birdie and a petzl hand ascender taped. I haven't taped the carabiner because I don't like the friction with the tape. Just have to be careful with it. I've thought about tying into a device with a soft shackle to eliminate metal on metal but I have never seen that done and don't want to destructively test my own equipment to feel safe with it

I use a soft shackle on my hand ascender; no issues.

I use shrinking tube on the biner, that carrys my gri gri. No more metal noises from there, but the biner won’t run through the eye of the device, so you have to fix it in correct position.
Buckles, clamp locks , grigri it so get hoodys sewn from thin camo printed neoprene.
