Sitdrag modifications

I sewed the original bridge from the sitdrag to the back of the sit drag. I did not remove the original bridge, just folded it to the top back of the sitdrag and sewed it in three places. This provided a point to attach the molle straps from my GI sustainment pouch to connect the belt and the sitdrag at the proper distance so the sitdrag hangs naturally below my butt. The GI sustainment pouch has two molle snaps on the back spaced properly. The pouch itself provides the proper spacing.
I installed a webbing bridge which is doubled over to provide more strength and also a dual bridge length. The ends are tied with a water knot (overhand follow through) and the loose ends sewn with a hand sticher to prevent working loose. One or two bridge loops can be used for a short and a long bridge. I usually use two while tethered. Using only one, it can be brought over the top of your head to keep out of the way while walking.

For information only/ Do not try this at home.

Plastic buckle strengthening with climbing sling.

Thats a good idea! I actually ordered a couple climbing straps off amazon that are5,000lb breaking strength and sewed into back. The ends also connect to a bridge out of same material. Sitdrag is basically just the comfort part as the daisychain would never break. Im a safety freak so i wear a 25$ rock harness and use that with lineman rope when climbing, when im hanging i just slack lineman and one part so it don’t hinder turning

Just a couple of recommendations. First 1,500lbs seems like a lot but, most saddles are built with webbing rated around 6000lbs. 1500lbs of force can be generated in a fall of just a couple feet. I say this so that you keep wearing that RCH.

It sounds like you just have the linesman's belt attached when hanging at height? If so, I recommend that you add a second prusik and biner to your tether and attach it to your RCH when hanging. Don't rely on that linesman's belt to catch you in a fall. It probably won't, especially if you slack it at height.

Sounds like your good with the weight ratings but, I would highly recommend that you connect your tether to both your saddle and your RCH using two prusiks and caribiners. I have used several DIY saddles over the years with an RCH and it's really easy to connect your tether to both.

A linesman's belt won't always stop you in a fall, there are plenty of YouTube videos out there of people sliding all the way to the ground with a linesman's belt around the tree.

He just loosens his linesman's belt and keeps it attached and uses a separate tether

Nice setup with the rock climbing harness belt holding the sit drag at the proper level for sitting. It looks like you can't beat that for safety. Many old timers here are climbing without a system which will keep them attached in case of an inverted fall which I would not do. What climbing system are you using? I use SRT and can't imagine going back to carrying 4 climbing sticks.

Yeah, I get that part. I may be misinterpreting but it sounded like he just attached his tether to his sit drag and not the rch. If that's the case you might as well not wear the rch because the LB isn't going to stop you if you fall.

Yes. He did not spell out explicitly what is connected to what. Hopefully he will be connected to both the sit drag and RCH with his tether.

Lineman just for backup:) always have tether goin up and dwn cause i one stick. Always good to have others give advice because its better than reading it on the ground! Thx!

I think he was being cautious considering your low number of posts. When I started climbing about a year ago, they pounded me relentlessly about safety which was a very good thing. Better to triple check the situation and avoid an accident.
