Who has experience with Sitka Elevated
Clothing? I’m hesitant on the pattern. Also, the stratus system seems a bit noisy, any thoughts?

Stratus is awsome and plenty quiet for me. I don’t like the EVII pattern for the majority of the season. I felt like I stuck out wearing it. For late season when the snow is on the ground i think it blends in really well.

I had the stratus and wished I wouldn’t have sold it though. I should’ve just bought a asat 3D suit to put over it. Just my opinion.

Rumor has it the stratus system is getting a redesign this year, not confirmed. Guess we will see with the ATA next week.

The Sitka Elevated pattern was designed to emulate the canopy of a tree when observed from the ground. I think Sitka puts a lot of analysis into their clothing which is why I'm a big fan. They rarely fall short.

I dont have any experience with the stratus system. Im a huge fan of the fanatic system though. It is without a doubt the quietest available.

camo pattern means nothing to the deer but the gore patterns actually are scientifically formulated. Who cares right. Now the sitka stuff is top notch in my book and the stratus set is my go to throughout 75% of my season. Its quiet enough for archery whitetail hunting. Ive had countless deer within 10 yards without knowing. The key to the stratus IMO is the windstopper and this unfortunately give it the slight noise. I started with the pants and than upgraded to the bibs when they were released. They are better as far as being able to unzip completely and heat dump as well as more comfortable for me in the saddle. Ive gone through almost every major clothing brand (besides FL) and sitka is number one on my list. Their designs and sizing are built for the hardcore bowhunter. IMO you cant go wrong with their gear and if on the fence id recommend buying used or if your LEO of any kind they have some great discounts

I have more Sitka stuff than I care to admit but it’s not about the pattern. I don’t really buy the opticfade science. What sold me on Sitka clothing is the warmth to lack of bulk and it being extremely comfortable.

I’ve had both the stratus and the fanatic. Both are great but I remember the stratus actually being quieter. The fleece on the fanatic would grab a lot of trees and make some noise. Honestly, I am being super picky as both are very quiet and great options for bow hunting.

I get that pattern doesn’t matter to deer, I often wear earth tone solids but I did feel like the evii did stick out in a lot of places I hunt.

When you understand how the vision of a deer works, the colors in the elevated ii pattern will make more sense. I was reluctant to use the elevated ii pattern until I spent many hours reading and learning what research has determined deer see, when looking at different colors. What’s also important is understanding how deer actually look with their eyes.

Spend some time and do the research for yourself, and I’m confident you will become a believer in the science of the elevated ii pattern for whitetail hunting.

It’s not necessarily about the color, so long as that color isn’t blue or yellow. The purpose of a camouflage pattern is to break up the human silhouette. The Gore Optifade pattern has proven to do that to deer and other ungulates. The Elevated II pattern may not camouflage you as well from the human eye, but it’s not the human eye you’re trying to deceive- it’s the eye of a deer from an elevated platform. The patter has proven itself in both early and late season.

I don’t have an endless supply of “extra cash” to drop on gear, so I do the best I can at making the most well-informed decisions I can before purchasing any gear. Sitka ain’t cheap. It wasn’t a plunge I took lightly. I feel the research I did on it gave me the information I needed to be confident in the gear.

I think the hesitancy of some with regards to the elevated ii pattern is that you think you want to see some green in the pattern. The green is in the environment, it’s not as necessary on your clothing in an elevated position. Elevated ii adds gray, which is a color blend in the eye of a deer.

Anyone ever used it on the ground? Not talking about a ground blind, but maybe stalking a deer that you happen to see.

Based on what scientists know about deer vision, there really is no reason to believe it wouldn’t be an effective ground pattern either. The gray in the pattern that replaced green in other patterns is gray all the same in the color perception of the deer. Deer are dichromatic. It is believed they see a shade of gray when looking at red and green.

I have used it in spring turkey season and elk hunting with absolutely zero negative reactions from game, deer turkey or elk whether on the ground or in a tree.
