So I checked my trail camera yesterday while scouting..

@gcr0003

The first words that come to mind (said in my best Southern drawl):

"Well I'll be."

"Maybe he is buying us off, maybe he is just being nice for messing with my stuff, you decide." - gcr0003

My guess is he's doing a little bit of both - he doesn't want you turning him in to the game warden or gossiping, and he doesn't want an enemy on that piece of public land, either.

Chalk it up as probably the best outcome you could've hoped for - no war brewing with someone else at one of your spots. I wouldn't trust the intel he provides you though, 'cause even honest guys don't give up good leads on nice deer unless they're working with a really good hunting buddy.

I concur.

I have never had a problem think of the size hol 2x3x1? I have lost more cams to thieves then moisture
It rains to much here lol it comes a flood pretty often, I hang most of mine minimum 5ft off the ground or theyll drown.

Not sure anyone has mentioned, but if you didn't do anything with he card chances are you can recover the photos- chances are the photos were deleted because the vandals faces were on it.

One thing I forgot to add was that he didn't even think about the joke "buck on your camera". He said he never thought of that. He said he didn't have anything to write on so he just left the dollar to let me know he was there and hoped I didn't steal his camera.
Dude sounds like a straight dumb dumb... your nicer than me, I woulda pulled his drain plug and left him there

So reading https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/public-land-trail-cameras.36030/ thread got me thinking about this experience I had this summer. I just wanted to add an update to the guy that left the dollar bill in my camera and who left a note on my car. He turned out to be a really nice guy. Regardless of his motives we continued to share buck pics and updates on hunts we had in and around that location. When I had my cameras stolen I let him know so he could move his. He shared photos of a fella who he got on camera the same day my cameras went missing. He also offered to let me hunt out of his hang-on that he had back in the woods. The place I hunted this year is a long haul from my house and I don't have many hunting buddies in the area so it is nice to know someone that is not too far away that could help if needed. I wanted to add that this fella was kind enough to get me permission to go find my buck on neighboring land when it crossed onto private as well as helped me track it and haul it down the mountain one morning. While I don't agree with everything he does, he seems to be an alright guy. Being respectful can go a long way some times.
