I would like to upgrade to a premium, unconditional lifetime warranty sock (both for hunting as well as everyday work). Altera and Darn Tough both seem to fit this bill but two different materials. On paper, Alpaca seems like it is a superior choice, but I would like to hear some first hand knowledge from some if possible. My questions are...

1. Who owns/has owned both these brands and can give some opinions comparing them? (quality of stitching/weave, feel on foot, wicking, etc)
2. Is one better for work during summer hot days?
3. Any other brands I should be looking at that also carry an unconditional lifetime warranty.

edit...
After re-reading my post, it seems like I am asking more about Altera vs DarnTough. But really, I guess I am more asking about Alpaca vs Merino. Altera seems to be the only Alpaca socks with the warranty (that my google-fu could find), but there are numerous Merino brands. Darn Tough just seemed to get the most praise which is why I listed them.

Like I said, on paper, Alpaca looks like it should be "better," but a majority of the premium socks are made with Merino. Prices between the two are practically the same.

I don't have experience with the two brands you mentioned but Thorlos are really good socks and will last a few years.

Farm to feet has lifetime warranty. I know warranty is upheld as i have exchanged 7 pairs now with them.
