“I made a poor choice of gloves"
“If it wouldn’t have been for my hands, I would have stayed out there longer."

In the boundary waters, with summer gear, as the lakes freeze over? He's lucky he had crap gloves I guess.

There’s a lot of them people that come to the BWCA and don’t prepare properly. Weather can change pretty quickly here in Minnesota let alone up there.luckily he had a GPS device with him and was at least smart enough to know when he was over his head.

Yeah, he's lucky he got in bad-enough trouble to believe it, but not so bad as to have long-term consequences. He could easily have kept his hands dry, made it another day in, and then had the same issues, only with the water too frozen for help to arrive quickly.

It’s a very nice and quiet area around there... Nina Moose Lake is fairly remote for someone not very well prepared to temperamental Minnesota weather. This time of year the Ely area is fairly quiet with most people, besides hunters now. Pretty soon Ely will “shut down for the winter” lol. Maybe the end of November maybe earlier.
