Someone talk me off the ledge please...

I just had the cams on my halon x replaced a few weeks ago. It cost me a little over $200.
Yours might be a little more since it is a newer bow and the cams are different.
It will be good to have the bow checked out thoroughly, and like people said,it could have been worse, smashing your sight, cracking limbs etc etc.

I feel for you. It is a very helpless feeling watching your bow fall to the ground. I did it once but got lucky it landed flat and there was a couple inches of fresh snow on the ground that prevented any damage.

Been there done that. I was lucky cause I had no damage to my bow. What a sinking feeling that is watching it go to the ground though. My sympathies.

Watching your rig fall in slomo has to be one of the worst feelings in the world. I had it happen to me a couple of years ago because of a bad splice in a pull rope that my uncle had hung. I questioned it but he had hunted this stand a couple days before and assured me it was fine. Well watching my custom rifle, that i'm embarrassed to say how much money I got in crash to the ground from 20 foot up was a sickening feeling. Luckily it landed suppressor first and stuck about a foot in the soft dirt. Had to adjust zero about 2" but no other damage. The bad part was I had a new pull rope in my pack. Lessons learned!

Anybody got an idea how much a new VXR 28 riser is going to cost me haha????? F me man. Twisted the Bottom of riser above limb pocket

Based on your pictures I couldn’t really tell, but I was afraid that was what you did. I don’t know if you’ll be able to find just a riser. Best bet might be to go to the pro shop and have them order you one?? I really have no idea as far as what your play is now.

Heck my first hunt last season I dropped a climbing stick on my brand new Vertix from about 15' up and cracked a limb. Be honest at the bow shop and if they are a reputable dealer Matthews may cover it. They paid for a new limb to be put on mine

That's my biggest fear when I'm up a tree, real sorry to hear that it happened. Now the good news is that you have a Switchback and I know from using one for the last fifteen years that she'll put game on the ground just as dead as that VXR. Keep in mind it's not the tool that matters, it's the person using it.
Best of luck to you

Damn, I would think you could beat a hog to death with the riser and it'd be fine.
Yeah I would’ve thought so too. It must have hit just right on an angle on the limb pocket and it dang sure twisted the riser. Breaks my heart. Good news is, it is fixable. Bad news... I have no idea what a riser will cost, or when it will be here. Thank God I kept the switchback and can continue to get after it

So last night I snuck out behind the house and up a tree. Weather was cooling off and the rain coming in, I figured they’d move and at the least get a shot at a doe. I’ve got preset sticks out there so it’s only the platform, tether, and gear hanger. So rather than screwing in a preset bow hanger like I have my entire life I decided to get practice further with the HYS strap and hero clip that I’m using on public. So I climb, set up, tether connected, HYS strap on, pack hung and I pull my bow up and hang it. Reach over to grab an arrow out of the quiver and my brand new VXR falls 25’ straight down. Idk how, why, what happened, but I’m sick to my stomach and almost 100% sure bottom cam is bent...
That sucks and I hope you figure it out...

The whole crocs situation...

The bow thing sucks too.

So the bow has been repaired and put back together, I pick it up tomorrow. Shout out to Sam Smith and Sambows archery in ila, ga for being the man!! I’m not too pumped about the monetary attachment now to this bow, but it is what it is. Now that we are back in the game, I’m needing an alternative to the hero clip for a bow hanger. OPEN to ideas. What do y’all use that may be more Sturdy, or reliable??
